It is a bloody good thrillerey, espionagey movie isn’t it. Harrison Ford doing what he does best, the loveable guy thrown into the middle of dangerous situation. I still say you should see him in Witness too.

Wes Stewart

I still need to rewatch this one but the only bit I remember from this movie is: President: “How dare you!” Ryan: “No, how dare you, sir!” President: “How dare you, I’m the president not a junkyard dog!” Ryan: “How dare you insult a junkyard dog!” Or something to that effect anyway.

My addiction to your reactions is now so strong that when I am rewatching my favorite movies and shows, I find myself imagining (quite vividly) your reactions to my favorite bits. It's embarrassing. You've taken up rent-free residence in my mind.

Seymor Butz

Can't wait for The Sum of All Fears. Ben Aflek is not as good as Ryan, but it's my favorite plot.

Rick Williams

Loved your reaction. I haven't seen this movie in a long time. I forgot how good it was. Thank you for helping me rediscover these gems from my past.

Chris Pine also played Jack Ryan (latest movie iteration)

This movie reminds us of the importance of language in politics. Once President Bennett labeled the Cali Cartel as a “clear and present danger” to the United States, he had the legal authority to attack and destroy the Cartel. When Trump labeled illegal immigration from Mexico a “national emergency,” he unlocked billions of dollars in federal funds to build a wall, bypassing Congressional approval. To avoid accusations of utilizing torture to extract intel from suspected terrorists, the Bush administration labeled practices such as water-boarding “enhanced interrogation techniques.” We must be wary of how politicians use language to advance their agenda and justify their actions.

The book The Sum of All Fears is amazing and has a lot more to it, obviously. All of Tom Clancy's books are amazing.

Lol OK dude. This the same wall that Biden halted construction on, then months later resumed building after his border policy failed? You won't find me defending Bush though, or any of the establishment uniparty.

I wanted to like that movie but just found it too ordinary and uninspired (with a climax right out of the George Clooney / Nicole Kidman thriller THE PEACEMAKER). I like Chris pine, but he's my least favorite Ryan. The best thing about the film was Kenneth Branagh as the villain, a performance he more or less repeated years later in TENET.

I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating: if you really want to see Harrison Ford play Jack Ryan for a third time, watch AIR FORCE ONE. He goes by a different name in that one and he's the president of the United States (something Ryan eventually became in the books anyway), but he's the same heroic, morally upright family man (with a wife and teenage daughter) battling bad guys in an exciting political action-thriller directed by Wolfgang Peterson (IN THE LINE OF FIRE).

Trembling Colors

I second this and I would add that the movie Executive Decision has Kurt Russell basically playing Jack Ryan in all but name too.

Just recently they made a John Clark solo movie on amazon prime called Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, only John Clark is played by Michael B. Jordan. I haven’t read the book but there were many complaints that the movie wasn’t at all like the book, but I still thought it was a really good movie. Also, in the Tom Clancy lore, John Clark is the founding member of the anti-terrorism task force, Rainbow Six, which spawned many books and video games. The movie Without Remorse builds up to that as well.

Air Force One is one of my family's favorite movies. We all love different genres, but Harrison Ford is an actor we all watch happily
