Ok the two semifinal polls have ended and we have our top 8. This poll will be one vote only, I know we had one big runaway winner on each which makes me think I might watch third place soon too if I can fit it in the schedj!

My dad saw the polls and was just so proud of all the John Grisham movies so now I'm even more excited:) And wow these were ALL in the 90's, a great decade for courtrooms apparently!

I wish Primal Fear had more love.

I'm wholeheartedly behind the two leaders but I think Erin Brokovich would be a killer reaction.

Dean Holt

Tbh I’d recommend all of these movies even if you just watched them without reacting to them. I time to Kill, Rainmaker and Philadelphia are probably my favourites other than the two that’s winning.

Wes Stewart

I voted for Philadelphia for the incredible opera scene between Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. The scene comes at a pivotal moment, Andrew Beckett (Hanks) listens to Maria Callas perform the aria "La Mamma Morta" from the opera "Andrea Chénier" by Umberto Giordano. He asks his lawyer, Joe Miller (Washington), if he likes opera, he replies that he's not that familiar with it. As it plays, Beckett stands up and begins narrating and translating the Italian, wandering around the room with his IV drip stand, the power of Callas' soprano begins to be felt, and we watch Beckett express his emotions and his vulnerability. What makes it particularly masterful is that several times in the scene the camera switches to Washington's character, who's just watching without a word, as a dying man comes to terms with his mortality, we see Washington FEEL the connection and the humanity through art, with a man he once judged and reviled for his homosexuality. Afterwards, it's no longer about a lawyer representing his client, but about a human being helping another human being. Beautiful.

You already saw the best courtroom drama - Twelve Angry Men. Everything else is second place IMHO.

YES!! That scene gets me EVERY TIME. So powerful & beautiful. I wholeheartedly believe that scene was what won Tom the Oscar. Just thinking of it now makes me tear up!

She has said she will watch the top two vote getters as she did the last poll. And she is saying here above that she will probably watch the top three here. So no reason to be sad yet.

Peggy Zehr

Just a minute too late to vote. A Few Good Men is the obvious answer to this question, but I want to heartily recommend Primal Fear!! Richard Gere, Edward Norton, Laura Linney........it's a good one!!

James Whalen

Primal Fear was on the Court Room Poll A and lost to My Cousin Vinny.

Joe M

Cassie, really hope you get to watch the second place poll winner, My Cousin Vinny. Even though I would rather have you watch Joe Pesci in Goodfellas.
