A film that I would recommend since you love this one so much would be the TNT movie Gettysburg. It is a long movie but worth your time.

I warned you'd need a good supply of tissues Cassie. Your sheets are getting soaked with tears. Great reaction again.

[A futile request, prompted by this comment section but not directed at anyone personally:] Would people please not delete their comments once they've gotten replies? Due to the dubious implementation by Patreon, doing so means that any replies become unavailable. If you wish to withdraw or retract your comment, click on edit and erase it. By clicking delete, you are in effect deleting the comments of everyone else who has responded, which seems ... ungracious.

I noticed a theme in Cassie's war movie reactions about the "training" or the "instructors" are so mean. She actually answered her own question at the end. It's of course to prepare them for the harshness of war. This leads me to the biggest elephant in the room: R. Lee Ermey To finally answer the drill instructor question once and for all, Cassie needs to see "Full Metal Jacket". Now of course some might say "no this film is too harsh for Cassie, she will be destroyed for the rest of her life." Guys, it's a war film, like any other war film. She's seen a ton of them, and she seems to really appreciate them. R. Lee Ermey hands down plays the best Drill Instructor ever (because he was one). I DON'T want Cassie to Google him because there are a lot of interviews with him explaining "why drill instructors are so harsh". I think once she watches "Full Metal Jacket" she can watch his real life interviews. Rest in peace Gunny...😞

Or better yet, stand by the comment or have a "I've thought about it and I was wrong" type of reply to it. edit- Oh, that comment was deleted.

Mike Lemon

At least the first half. The second half of Full Metal Jacket I could take or leave.

Darren Hill

I think Cassie should pick a Vietnam theme for her next war film. Platoon. Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now, Deer Hunter, Hamburger Hill, We were Soldiers.

Darren Hill

Lee Emery is unforgettable as Sgt Hartman. Louis Gossett Jnr also excellent in An Officer and a Gentleman.

I am reminded of Natalie Gold's reaction to The Wolverine. 20 seconds starting at: https://youtu.be/BbIYP53ZgB0?t=176 (In her defence, she deliberately talks a lot as a fair-use defence.)

Agree with other Mike. Its two completely different chapters of a movie. The second half was egh? But first half was good. To me the second half is one long long sequence, based on one event almost. Trying not to spoil. But you get what I'm saying.

Todzilla

No I agree that FMJ almost seems likes two movies. To get the awesome performance from Lee Emery you have to watch the first part, but Cassie is never going to watch just half a movie. LOL

Todzilla

@Darren I'm on the same page as you. Cassie really covered WWII. She hit WWI the Civil War and Black Hawk Down. My vote above was for Full Metal Jacket, so she can finally see the best Drill Instructor ever: Lee Emery. But any of the films you mentioned would be cool.

Happy Hanukkah

I'm not unfamiliar with that reaction. :-) Your Vietnam War poll suggestion simply triggered that memory. Now, if I had to seriously pick the best such movie, I wouldn't hesitate: Maverick!!!

Al Swearengen

Cassie dropping the Unforgiven quote. She's come a long way.

Orcagirl78

I forgot how amazing & powerful this movie is!! But also how heartbreaking the end is. What a heartbreaking story. Morgan & Denzel were just incredible. Denzel deservedly won that Oscar!! "I hope it ends happy. It'll break my heart if any of these guys die." Oh, Cassie... it's a heartbreak that still hurts every time I watch this! I can barely get through the last part. I'm a mess while writing this 🥺😭💔

Christopher Carr

Good movie with Morgan Freeman, Robert Redford and Jennifer Lopez is an Unfinished Life.

I have always loved this movie and had a feeling you were going to be pretty emotional for it. This one is rough for sure. I would recommend watching both 12 Years A Slave and Lone Survivor with someone you can lean on. As emotional as this one was they are worse. Can't wait to see your reactions to them.

William Whalen

I see you've watched my favorite war film. For historical accuracy, Glory can't be beat. The only use of poetic license was in the real 54th consisted almost entirely of Free black men but the filmmakers wanted to represent the more typical colored unit which had higher proportions of escaped slaves in them. Matthew Broderick is a dead ringer the real Col. Shaw. The Confederacy carried out its' threat to kill black Union soldiers. The most notorious example was the Fort Pillow Massacre where all the black union troops were bayoneted after surrendering. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest led the massacre. You may remember him as being the person Forrest Gump was named after. After the Civil War ended Forrest founded the Ku Klux Klan.

Loved your reaction to this movie. My only complaint is that I wish you posted your private full-length Patreon videos on Youtube instead of Vimeo. There were three or four times when your video on Vimeo would stop and buff alongside my copy of this movie on Youtube. I never have this problem with Youtube videos, only on Vimeo for some reason.
