Hey guys! Sadly, here is the last chapter in the Firefly saga. It's definitely bitter sweet. I got my questions answered but.. it's over :(. Hopefully you enjoy this reaction as much as I've enjoyed Firefly! Thank you all so much for being here and helping support the channel, it's really so appreciated. <3

This was a hard reaction to watch because I knew what was coming and how much it would hurt. I definitely remember reacting the exact same way when I first watched it all those years ago. Definitely a rollercoaster of emotions, and the fact it can still make me feel that after all these years says all you need to know about how fantastic this movie is. I love these characters dearly and I still hold hope that one day we might get more Firefly episodes! 🙏

Mate. This reaction brought me to tears. Very cathartic rewatching these characters / friends with you again Cassie, I'm sure a lot of people agree.

Great reaction to a terrific movie.

Hello Cassie, your reaction to the whole show, and especially to the movie, has been very nice. 👍😁 It's a real shame the show was canceled halfway through season one and not even airing episodes 12-14, which were already done. Also that there was no other network which wanted to pick up the series. After all, all 14 episodes were available on DVD and mainly because of the massive fan base they were able to give the story a reasonably satisfactory (because the story could and should have been much longer!) ending with the movie. But the handling of such a great series, with its background and characters developed in such detail, is really an indictment of FOX. But there were problems between FOX and the creators of the series from the start because FOX only wanted action and nothing profound. Finally, a little spoiler in advance: If you should ever (hopefully) watch the series 'Battlestar Galactica', you will be able to see a small Serenity tribute in the pilot episodes (Miniseries), if you are very attentive. 😊 On YT I've found this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQMHQjaxfpE (unfortunately not that good quality)

Yeah, I don't really know if I would categorize this as a happy movie really. Bittersweet at best. Good, but bittersweet at best. I always kind of liked to think they were showing Book's backstory by way of the Operative. I know they did a comic or something that told the real deal (or part of it at least), but I kinda liked to think the Operative goes off and becomes like Book, making amends for his past just as Book did.

I loved your reaction. So heartfelt. It's amazing the way this tiny series goes from complete confusion in the first half hour to constant laughter and tears in the last two hours. And the cleverness of the story; the movie shows so much more about River and the world, it makes us want to go back and rewatch the series again now that we understand. And then we have to watch the movie again. And we just get stuck in that lovely loop forever.

and now i have a lovely loop where i watch with or without the reaction... i can watch C over and over and over!

I'm there with you about this show and I always always have been. THIS, THIS is what good writing and character development look like; something seriously lacking in current entertainment. I will say.. though I've watch the show and movie several times before, never has it been more impactful as has watching it with this channel.

I enjoyed your reaction to this and Firefly. I made it a point to look from the movie back to you when I knew something big was coming. Serenity didn't hit as hard for me because I actually saw it before I ever even knew Firefly existed. I wish I'd had the opportunity to watch the show before seeing the movie but it was fun rewatching it with someone who had never seen it before. It's funny, before serenity I didn't know Nathan Fillion from anything other than a little show called Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place which also started a little known Ryan Reynolds. Now he's one of those actors where if you put him in it I will watch it. Firefly and serenity were so good. I wish they had been able to carry on making more movies. I think that was the original plan which is why we didn't see Mal and Inara get together. But just in case this was the last one they at least put it out there that you expected it to happen.

I know this is older now but there is the official comic series that goes into their life after the movie.

The comic story "The Shepherd's Tale" is excellent, if perhaps sad. It does wrap up everything about 'Derrial Book'. The Operative does appear in the official comic stories as well, plus a few interesting surprises. The novels are good too, as far as I've read (only halfway through #4 and #8 is due out in May 2023).
