Happy 2022 friends!! I can't believe it! My world changed in 2021 with this channel and this community and I am having so much fun watching movies and connecting with all of you! I hope you all had a grand time last night celebrating with lots of bubbly and smooching!! I, unfortunately was sick in bed, womp womp.

I have a lot of exciting things coming up for channel in 2022. I am so excited that we have so many amazing movies/shows to continue to watch together!

Ok the Western Bracket! It seems there have been some big upsets? That's what's fun about a bracket though right? Right?? WE'RE HAVING FUN RIGHT??!!  JK but I am excited to watch all of the great movies you guys are discussing at some point.  It looks like "Maverick" won the Winners side and now we will see who will come up from the Losers bracket to see if it can win in the final!

Sorry, I should have been notifying every round, but this sickness has been making its way through the household and I am always worried about being annoying with notifications in your email :/

Ben Hur won't be up until tomorrow night. I ended up watching Serenity Thursday night though ahead of schedule because I just couldn't wait, I'm hoping we can get that up on here tonight! I HAVE THOUGHTS and FEELINGS!!

Ok I want you to know how much I appreciate you being here, for engaging, for kind words and for being my friends :)

Happy NEW YEAR!!

exclamation point count: 16, not bad :)

If you haven't voted yet for this round, make sure to do so HERE

The brackets are like politics. The one with most votes doesn't win.

Godzilla Jones

Tombstone is amazing, I will fight anyone over this. Plus if not for Tombstone we would almost certainly not have Nic Cage in Mandy. Everybody go watch Tombstone so Panos Cosmatos can make something beautifully weird.

So it's GBU vs Unforgiven, round 2 - wonder if the outcome will be different this time.

Welp, the Western poll is down to "Unforgiven" vs "Maverick" for 1st place. Loser gets second. TGTBTU got 3rd. I'm actually fine with this. Cassie will watch all three eventually and she will have watched "Dances With Wolves". I think that's a pretty good, well-rounded exposure to the Western genre. Plus, she's already watched The Legend of Zorro and The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing. Looking forward to her reactions to all these.

Ask any random person what their favorite westerns are, and they will name movies like Unforgiven, Tombstone, Josie Wales, etc - I can't imagine anyone coming up with Maverick lol. People around here have talked about how they figured out how to vote multiple times in the brackets, so I guess that explains it. I wish Cassie would just use normal polls, then the top 8 move on to the next round, then the top 4, etc, etc. Using patreon polls will keep people from voting more than once, unlike the brackets.

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, as well as Unforgiven, are the two greatest westerns ever made. Just my 2 cents. Can't wait to see the reactions!

The biggest problem with Maverick is the name... Taken as a movie in and of itself it was ok ... Not great but not terrible. Unfortunately it was trying to revive a character that was perfect in its portrayal. Unfortunately I do not believe ANYONE could play Maverick as well as James Garner. What made in it worse was that neither Mel Gibson nor the Director or scriptwriters seemed to even understand the character they were attempting to revive. This led to disappointment among those that grew up on the James Garner maverick and why it was panned... If the film (and central character) were named Cecil Hobbs it would be viewed in a slightly better light.

No True Grit (2010)? Great movie, and IMO much better than the original.
