I'm sorry to hear you have Covid, but I'm glad you're doing better. I had mine back in January. It was like a bad cold. Lost my sense of taste and smell. But, I'm fine now. I trust you'll bounce back quickly. Ah, the early 70's. 1973-1974 was the year I owned a radio. Long story. My brother was the rock enthusiast. I spent my time listening to Beethoven. Although, I did enjoy The Carpenters. I do miss Karen. That's another long story. You know... I don't miss the 60's or the 70's. But, I hear you about running off to follow your dream. I never did anything like that. Well... not as a kid. I did move to LA in the mid-80's. That's where I discovered that I am, in fact, rather mediocre at... pretty much everything I thought I was good at. Oh, it's fine now. But, it was a rude awakening back then. These days I'm quite content being good at my job, respected by my coworkers (and our customers), loved by my wife, children, and I'm sure when he gets old enough to express it, my grandson.) It's all good. So, my favorite live concert was at the St. Louis Symphony, I'm thinking about 1974 or 1975, Gina Bachauer played the Grieg Piano concerto. It's was amazing! Favorite musician to have met in person: Ella Fitzgerald. (She was a wonderfully gracious lady. I believe that was in 1983.) As for your dreams, Little Girl, keep plugging away. I have every confidence in you. Thank you for the watch. I've never seen this before. I'll look forward to the next one! Stay hydrated!

I LOVE the Carpenters hahaha they're such easy listening. Fun fact (embarrassing for me) I only found out Karen isn't still alive literally a few years ago. So sad. In this watch I talk about the 70s night at the local beach and I was so ready for some carpenters, and then it was ALL Disco. But thanks for writing and watching with me :) Happy to be back up and feeling good

I didn't know who the Carpenters were. I just loved the songs, and of course Karen's voice. I had a friend who died from anorexia in 75. I'd never heard of it. In 83 when Karen died of it, I thought more about Mike than her, because I didn't really know who she was. It wasn't until earlier this year when I found a Carpenters retrospective on YouTube and watched it, and heard Karen sing again, and saw her (believe it or not, I'd never seen them before)... I guess it was this rotten past year, and all that was going on, but she was the sound of my youth, and her death hit me like a ton of bricks. It's just so sad. But... her music is still wonderful! And, now that I know where to find it, I go back and listen often. Still get a little misty, though. I guess that's what old guys do when nostalgia kicks in. Thanks again for the watch. I'm glad you're feeling better. Sleepless in Seattle next, please. (I voted.)

For 80s kids (like me), there was a tv movie called The Karen Carpenter Story that really drove home the point that she was dead and how her bulimia led to it. TV movies (and after school specials) back then did a good job of permanently scarring the psyches of kids. There was also a Todd Haynes diy film made with Barbie dolls called Superstar that I still can't tell whether or not was made with sarcastic love or pure spite (I'm guessing the former based on the rest of Haynes' work). It's on youtube if you've got an hour to kill some time.
