The recent Blu-ray reissue of the film has both the theatrical release and Cameron's longer cut referred to as "Untitled". I'm not entirely sure which cut Paramount+ is running.

the theatrical version is on paramount+. the untitled version you mentioned is called the bootleg cut and I think it's about 30 min longer.

I finally got around to watching this with you. Great reaction. I don't think Kate Hudson was originally going to be on all the movie posters for this, but she was nominated for every actress award under the sun, including the Acadamy, so I guess they decided to promote her along with the movie. She won the Golden Globe. Crowe won for best original screenplay and won the Golden Globe for best film and the Grammy for the soundtrack. This is a bit surprising because she was actually the second choice for the role. Originally it was going to be Brad Pitt as Russell and Sarah Polley as Penny, but both dropped out and Crudup and Hudson were brought in. Pennie Lane Trumbull is a real person and is still around. There's lots of articles on the web about her. Interesting person. Frances McDormand's character is based on Crowe's own mother, who was on the set to keep an eye on him (presumably to make sure he avoided drugs). She became good friends with Frances.
