Would it be possible to get a double reverse Dollop where Dave and Garfie listen to a topic of Mexican history, and Lolo and Nadia narrate since they already do that in their first podcast? ...

Ugh, I was wondering if Gareth was referring to the Seattle show as being “too dark,” but I guess you already said which show was “too dark.” I truly didn’t think that the Seattle show was that “dark,” but my shitty ex who went to the show with me (we were not exes then), was like, “Yeah, that was too dark for me. I heard someone else behind us as we were all walking out, they were telling their friend that it’s not usually such a dark podcast,” and I was just like, “I mean, in spite of what Wikipedia says, I feel like she was more of a grifter than a serial killer. I really don’t think it was that ‘bad.’” Ugh, he sucks

Hope it’s OK for me to share this before the ep comes out — Linda Hazzard of “Starvation Heights” fame.

Omg Gareth that's amazing, that's why my parents emigrated to America. My father ran girls toys for Mattel for years. He actually invented the kissy sound mechanism for a Barbie doll design. It's weird growing up a boy in the eighties being surrounded by free toy promos from the Mattel girl's department. Barbie tour bus FTW :P

I meant to also say that what Dave says about trigger/content warnings is absolutely spot-on… I feel like he basically articulated everything that I, as a super trauma-brained person, have always felt so gross about re: trigger warnings (also, even weirder when people on the internet literally shorten it to TW or CW, because apparently it would be too triggering to write “trigger” — I’m serious, there was a full-on argument/discussion about this on Tumblr circa 2009-2014, basically). Thanks for saying all of that; I also appreciate hearing it from the very reasonable spouse of a psychologist.

There was a content warning attached to the Carl Tanzler ep in the show description (I don't remember if there's a spoken warning) and that was a great episode for which to give a general heads up. I appreciate Dave and his wife's pov, but having a quick note at the top of a show that hits on outlier topics (like some of Carl Tanzler's actions) is also appropriate for The Dollop audience. You've said that you tend to steer clear of certain subjects like true crime anyway, and you've stuck to it. Sometimes it's a case of people needing to change the media they consume rather than asking the creators to change their show. I like hearing Dave's wife's thoughts and would love more of that if it's ever appropriate for an episode. I also liked what Neil Gaiman wrote about trigger warnings in the intro to his short story collection titled (wait for it) Trigger Warning.

Completely agree! I left a Dollop FB Fan page because every single post started with a "TW" ... It was ridiculous!
