I approached Dave in a bar after a show one time after having several drinks and told him about how WTR had helped me get through a really dark time in my life, which it did, and he was gracious but had kind of a "thank you for that, whatever that was" look on his face and I realized I had definitely made it weird.

re: the left devouring itself - I do feel like it's safer (and profitable) to attack the left from any ideological place than it is to challenge a fascist on anything. And it does seem to come from a place of history where leftists can get murdered with basically no accountability or retribution while fascists can squirm out of the law over and over and over again and end up like dying of old age in a mansion. I don't know what to do about it mind you - I just see it as people trying to protect themselves (and profit) at the expense of any larger "we".
