I spent perhaps more time than I should have when writing this section trying to weigh in my head the relative value of a stolen lamp versus a jelly doughnut of unclear origin. On the one hand, the lamp has more long-term value, but on the other, food is the energy of life. Of course the value of either thing is highly variable and depends on who you're selling to, or where. In this case, the mice felt a jelly doughnut was a fair trade for a lamp. Who do they trade the lamp to? Where did the doughnut come from? All good questions! Don't worry about it!
