On the lower power draw of the new PS5: I don't know very much about console boosting behaviour, but the lower draw could be indicative of a less effective cooling solution, could it not? If the new heatsink design has 20W less capacity that the previous version, then the boosting behaviour may be dropping voltages to keep within its temperature limits?

@Strawbiery, regarding the question about the transition from CRTs: I used to organize a lot of LAN parties during that time, and I remember quite a few of my friends immediately getting an LCD. It was mostly about them being more portable and being flat made them feel modern I guess. I was not impressed myself, I kept getting 21' - 24' CRTs until I couldn't find one easily anymore (last one was a 24' Eizo I got for 10 bucks, loved that thing). One factor that helped people getting LCDs at the time was the feeling of it being better for the eyes. I doubt this was actually true, but I remember many people thinking that.

LCDs were something of a nightmare in the late 00s, particularly if you enjoyed vibrant colours and good black levels. Worse still upscaling equipment for older consoles hadn't yet come of age so it was almost as if you were getting a double whammy on the retro front too and even emulated, nicely scaled sprite artwork games wouldn't look good at all. I remember things starting to change around 2010 mind when I transitioned to PC which made playing older games at higher resolutions much more possible (Higher resolution = less apparent image flaws) and then early 2010s IPS seem to come of age which finally made things workable to me. I know yes, a lot of 360 games aren't 1080p but plugging that console into a modern LCD or OLED panel shows how far we've come in the years since. I'd imagine some players might have to re-evaluate a games artstyle if it was made in that period just because things looked so washed out generally.
