Hi everyone, it's Rich here. Patches for Marvel's Spider-Man on PC are still coming in thick and fast - the latest arrived just two hours ago. This means that while the review embargo for the game has lifted, we are not ready to share content. Big, big changes have occured in the last few days. Still, I thought I'd show you a bit more Steam Deck magic - this is one of the most dynamic sequences in the game, and I played through long enough to reach it. It did not disappoint.

Steam Deck settings? Well, we're looking at high settings here with medium hair quality and low depth of field. We're using the Deck's 30fps cap, which really is required - unlocked has stuttering problems in my experience, while even hitting 40fps for the 40Hz refresh mode while retaining visual quality is exceptionally difficult in my experience. You'll note some performance dips here - they're mostly on cutscene camera cuts and don't really detract from the experience. The PS4 and PS5 versions act similarly (albeit with shorter frame-times).

Just taking a break from writing a 'review in progress' article for Eurogamer, but enjoy the footage in the meantime!

Bonus Material: Marvel's Spider-Man Steam Deck Gameplay

A look at one of Rich's favourite sequences from Marvel's Spider-Man, as running on Steam Deck at 720p on mostly high settings, with dynamic resolution in play and Valve's system-level 30fps cap in place. Thank you for backing the DF Supporter Program.

Is this using FSR, or is the resolution just too low?

This is using Insomniac's own upscaler - it's a dynamic 720p. It's 720p for the most part.
