Hi everyone - just a quick update with a downloadable bonus available to all DF Supporter Tiers. Alex has just finished a look at the Unreal Engine 5 demo and that content will roll out in due course. But how does the demo itself look running at Epic Settings on an RTX 3090?

Here's a demo for you, and here's where you grab downloadable versions of the video: https://www.digitalfoundry.net/2021-06-08-unreal-engine-5-valley-of-the-ancients-on-rtx-3090

Hi. Interesting, an the landscape looks fantastic. However, the "realism" of the character is still a limiting factor of UE5 or is that just down to the modelling of the character? I bet this looks lovely on a Gateway 2000 Vivitron 15. :-)

It's just the model, have a look on YouTube for metahumans on UE5

Everything looks incredible except for the automatic animations when the character jumps over obstacles, that actually looks pretty bad and jarring, actually.

I think the character and character animations are an afterthought here. They want to highlight Lumen and Nanite here. Metahumans + UE5 would look fantastic. Just wonder how Shadow of the Tomb Raider would look like if it was ported/remastered or made on UE5+Metahuman combo.
