Hey guys, John here. Just wanted to let everyone know that I've finished the latest DF Retro episode early for once and, if all goes according to plan, it should be available for download starting tomorrow before it goes up for YouTube viewing on Sunday!

Just wanted to give some details on this one. As I mentioned in the last post, I'm doing a series on the Sega 32x. Tomorrow's episode is part 1 of 2 and it weighs in at almost 50 minutes. Being a little ambitious sometimes, I decided to capture the entire library - all 40 games - and cover them. So part 1 covers basically half the library while part 2 will wrap everything up.

I've divided it up into chapters each based on a genre usually in order from best to worst.

I also spent time capturing comparison footage of many games to showcase how well the system stacked up against the competition. So, yeah, this one is going to be packed with cool comparisons.

One interesting thing I ran into centers on performance analysis - I couldn't do it for 32x! Basically, since the 32x uses the Mega Drive as a separate layer, the two often end up running at different frame-rates. As a result, frames can update at very different times resulting in improper results from the FPS tools.

In some games, the foreground might update at 20fps while the background is 60fps, for instance. In other cases, the skybox might update one frame then the 3D updates the next frame - they basically go back and forth like that.

Anyways, I'll post again when it goes online! Looking forward to sharing this one!
