Hi everyone, back to work after some recuperation time over the weekend - I was 'off' for most of the last week with a cold or flu, dosed myself up with caffeine and decongestants for DF Direct Weekly but am now operating within acceptable parameters. Alex is away this week, enjoying a family break in Italy, but everyone else attended this week's #content meeting, so let's get to grips with that!

  • John continues to work on our Saturn vs PlayStation epic... and this project is in danger of scaling out of control. So the idea here is that we are revisiting the PS1/Saturn era and carrying out classic DF platform comparisons - the idea is that these consoles are so different, that we'll actually see the OG DF formula at its best. Graphics comparisons, frame-rate head-to-heads, it's looking great. However, there are so many games we want to cover that we'll be dividing it into genres, kicking off with racing and shooters. It's becoming a series!

  • Oliver has a number of projects on the go. Yes, he's got his hands on the Apple M4-driven iPad Pro and is massively impressed with it in some respects, so he'll be sharing some impressions there before getting down to re-testing all of the iOS triple-A heavy hitters. Can the power of M4 overcome the issues we saw on iPhone 15 Pro? Beyond that, Oliver will be following up the Best First Party Switch Graphics piece with a third party equivalent, and we're going to be taking a fresh look at Series S vs 'premium' consoles by limiting ourselves to 1080p resolution testing! How much does lower resolution limit the premium advantage?

  • Tom is working on the Marvel Rivals beta and is lining up a look at No-One Wants to Die. The Dark Souls 2 lighting mod is still on the docket.

  • Rich (ie me) will be getting back in the saddle with the Auto SR video, and I'll also be putting together a behind the scenes video with progress on our PC benchmark automation project. I am still keen on both budget PCs and PS3 overclocking, but I'm also interested in Strix Point!

  • Will is going to continue our Eurogamer work and will also be taking point on our upcoming Ryzen 9000 CPU reviews. We're hoping to get our automated benchmarking suite into some kind of shape for this, but the timelines are limited. What I can say is that the new data formats spat out by the new tools are now integrated into the Eurogamer CMS and work a treat.

There's a couple more bits and pieces in the offing. Marc 'Try4ce' Duddelson is looking at Dawntrail for us and the Wreckless Double STEAL video should be happening for Retro Tier supporters this week! In the meantime, please do make good use of the comments box that is - as always, inevitably - below with your feedback and comments suggestions!

Have a great week!

Very interested to see the video on your benchmarking setup.

I'm happy that you are looking at Nobody Wants To Die, I'm curious if it was the tweet from MKwadrat Podcast account that prompted it :)
