Hey patrons! A few months ago, I did a tutorial on drawing faces which involved doing paint-overs of some of your art. In august, I'd love to do a similar type of tutorial on poses. I know that a lot of you struggle with anatomy and flow in your poses and I'd love to share my tips and advice on how to tackle these issues!

Do you struggle with drawing poses, and are you willing submit your art for me to use in next month's tutorial? If you're ok with that, you can email me at info@loish.net with your drawing and I will make a selection for the tutorial! Keep in mind that I will be painting over it and changing your art, and that your art will be included in the video for all to see. (Be sure to check out my tutorial on faces for examples of how I would do that.) If that's something you're ok with, please submit your art!

And if you have specific struggles but don't want to submit your art, post it below - I will try to address it in the tutorial!

For me it goes both ways I struggle with poses from imagination as they don’t feel grounded enough but then using a reference result in a post that feels too stiff and manufactured instead of flowing naturally. I’ve done gesture drawing practices but they don’t seem to be helpful as I currently don’t know how to do it effectively

i understand! i'm editing the tutorial right now and it talks about which aspects to focus on so that you can get more fluidity in the pose. i think you'll find it helpful!

Yes this is exactly what my personal challenge is right now! I’m doing a short form graphic novel zine to practice and realizing how hard it is to draw people posing naturally AND with a dynamic energy. I recently bought a Japanese pose book for manga which has helped with the anatomy side, but also there isn’t much variation on body type. So besides general help with poses, would you have any advice for adjusting models/reference pics to create a wider range of physical representation?
