Here’s the process video for the fox sketches I posted a few days ago! It’s been sped up to twice the original speed. The original drawing process took me about one and a half hours to do. Here’s the reference I used for these foxes:
As I mentioned in my previous post, I was really focused on keeping the energy of the initial sketches intact in the final version. That’s why, in this process, you can see me going back and forth a few times - basically adding detail and then noticing that those details are bogging down the sketch, taking a few steps back and starting over. I really had to repress the impulse to add too much detail and lose the energy of my sketch. This happens a few times but I think the main one is 11:25 minutes in where I jump back to an earlier step and start over with adding shading to the fox.
Here’s a little resource I put together to explain my thought process when I did this:
The brushes I used were:
- The MaCaLabs HB pencil brush to sketch and create linework - http://cbr.sh/fg8up?ref=loish
- The hard round brush from my own set to paint some details - http://cbr.sh/3jq96x
And here’s a simple resource to explain how I use the lasso tool to add color and ‘paint’ on my images.
Hope you like this one and as always, feel free to ask if you have any questions!
