A page from my sketchbook that I hadn’t shared yet! These girls are actually re-draws of characters I drew a long time ago, around 2003-2004. I wanted to see how I would approach them in my current sketching style. I love doing exercises like these to map my progress and see how much my way of drawing and visualizing things has changed since I started out!

Oh man I love this! I remember having that top left one glued into my reference notebook back in high school when you first did it. I have loved watching your journey. 😍

Wonderful! It's amazing to see the progress and different kind of feel, they feel more 'raw' now. Lovely work Loish!

I love these!! Especially the elf girl, I haven't seen too many 'typical' fantasy type characters from you recently so this is really cool to see :)

Hey, Hey! Good stuff. Now please graft this type of head onto maybe a few of your characters. I suppose viewers read expressions in different ways and might react negatively to a character projecting an emotion. Maybe you have experienced that already. It would be interesting to test.

I remember this kind of stuff you were doing back in the deviantArt days when I followed you there! Memoriesss

i think doing remakes / revisiting an older art piece from time to time is one of the most encouraging things an artist can do! really shows progress and growth!

Love these! did you use that one mechanical pencil for the whole page or did you go over the outlines with a darker pencil? I've got 2B refills for mine but they aren't as dark as a traditional pencil and that seems to be the highest grade they go!

Loish

hey daniel! I used the same pencil for the whole page. I started using 2B lead for my sketches and even though it's quite smudgy, it works so much better for me!
