The annual moment to post this meme has rolled back around:

Are you all enjoying the spring as much as I am? I'm so relieved the trees are finally fluffy and green again! Here's a little review of how this month has gone for me:

FIRST ART EVENT IN 2 YEARS

This month, I went to Playgrounds Festival in Eindhoven to do some book signing sessions and reconnect with people I hadn’t seen in a long time. It was the first event that I had attended since the pandemic started, and it was so nice to see people again and talk about creativity and bieng an artist. I realized that I had really missed these conversations, and it had a very inspiring and energizing effect on me! I’m now even more excited to attend Lightbox Expo next October and hopefully meet some of you there!

MINDSET-FOCUSED TUTORIALS

This month’s tutorial ended up being a lot about productivity and mindset, which I really enjoyed doing. I think I’ve covered a lot of techniques in previous tutorials already and it feels good to be branching out into topics that are a bit broader. I’m really looking forward to doing more of these in the future since I have so much to say about that! If you ever have any ideas or suggestions for a future tutorial, please don’t hesitate to let me know - it’s random suggestions I get here that usually end up inspiring me for the next one!

FUTURE PLANS FOR THIS PATREON

I mentioned last winter that I wanted to add a new tier to this patreon that has assignments and more interactivity. I’ve been working on plans for it and trying to come up with something that felt good, but I haven’t really gotten there yet. I’m feeling a lot of anxiety about the prospect and I’m not sure if I’m entirely ready to do this at this stage. So for now, I’m sticking to this basic tier and I won’t be introducing any changes. But just like with the tutorial ideas, it’s your suggestions that usually inspire me to consider something new, so please reach out and let me know if there’s anything missing on this patreon that you’d like to see more of! I’m always open to suggestions!

As always, thanks so much for your support! I'll be sending out links to this month's google drive folder today. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me through a direct message or e-mail to loishh@gmail.com. Any and all feedback is welcome! I hope you’ll continue to be my patron and enjoy the content coming up next month! ❤

Not sure if you were already doing this elsewhere, but I would love to get my artwork critiqued by you someday! So I’m in for the potential tier of putting in assignments and the interaction/feedback type of course.

Pierre Brown

I’d definitely love an assignment aspect to your Patreon whenever you’d feel comfortable/willing. I’ve definitely been needing some accountability to what I’m learning versus just watching stuff and doing no actual, meaningful practice. (Of course that’s on me, not on you or any other artist I’ve watched)

Not getting anything greener here 🥲 I’m from Brazil and here Autumn has just started, and winter is coming for real haha but I’m trying to enjoy the seasons as they pass by. It’s my first month here and I actually thought it was a good thing to have only one tier. Feels like we’re all in this together, getting the same content, and I believe it’s easier for you to focus on your art and content creation. Not sure how I’ll feel about it in the future, but for now it seems fine to me :) - anyway, whenever you feel like creating another tier when it feels right for you, I’ll enjoy it for sure as well.

Maybe some tips on portfolio building and freelance work. I know that it may seem boring but sometimes it feels like artists forget the more business side of things. It could be nice to get some advise others that sorta stuff (only uf you feel like it of course)

Hi Loish, I would love some drawing and chatting session. I like the proposal of Dominique and El Martos. I love the content you are offering. Suggestions for the tier of 4.5$ (I guess this is the price): you can keep varying the topics of your tutorials and videos. I would love another video of your recent sketchbook or Q&A. It would be cool Q&A while your are drawing.

Hello, I’m new-ish (a few months or so) here. Am enjoying the posts, and would love to see videos where you sketch and paint your lovely landscapes. I see sketchbook flip throughs, but can’t seem to find any of you painting landscapes. Thank you so much!!!

Oh, and perhaps you could record with the volume a little higher, please? Oftentimes I need to put my iPad volume up to the highest to hear you. It may just be me, since my hearing isn’t the best.

Radka Kopecka (radu.k.art)

I would say Loish’s recordings are even louder than other videos on youtube etc, so maybe something with your settings? :)

Thank you, Radka - I’ll check my iPad settings. It’s older, so maybe I need to upgrade and buy a new one!

I would be extremely excited at the idea of a more interactive tier- but I also know how hard it can be to navigate something like that. As is your Patreon is incredible so take your time!

Loish

thanks so much for your understanding! I really want to do it, but need to figure out how. I might need to do a kind of test run for a few months and see how that goes before finalizing this new tier.

Loish

I totally understand that! I do feel like it would be cool to, at the very least, offer assignment suggestions and create a space where folks can share the results with eachother. I'm just not sure to what extent I will be able to provide feedback, this is something I'm still working out. thanks for your input!

Loish

happy to hear that! and thanks so much for joining the patreon!

Loish

thank you for this! It's definitely something I want to talk about more in the future. and I want to link this in case you hadn't seen it yet - I did a business Q&A a while back that might be helpful for you! just scroll down to the first three videos in this tag: https://www.patreon.com/loish?filters[tag]=Q%26A

Loish

hey arlene! thanks for letting me know! are these more recent videos, or do you have this issue with all the videos?

Loish

thanks so much for joining! I really appreciate the support :) I will definitely be posting more process for landscapes, and for now, there's two tutorials that talk about my process for these - https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-44069788 / https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-drawing-59043003

Check the settings. Sometimes the device cuts the audio because it can be higher than the safety standard. ;-)

I have so much gratitude for how generous you’ve been with your patreon, but I would definitely be excited about another tier too! Grateful for how much you do for other artists <3 Your art has made me excited to practice drawing again and I have learned so much from your tutorials!

I very much like the idea of an interactive tier as I'm always struggling with what sort of projects to set myself to keep my motivation, but can appreciate it's a lot to maintain - whatever you decide though I'm happy to support you and appreciate the time and effort you put into your content!

2023-01-16 05:56:05 Oh weird, my last comment didn't stick... I just recomment; I think your tier as it is right now is perfect! As a student being able to afford monthly subscriptions isn't easy. An extra tier would be allright but I would prefer interactive things such as "Q&A" or Critique Rounds / Portfolio Reviews more as an Bi - monthly event that you can purchase extra through patreon. I also would enjoy Industry Talks where we could ask questions or you could give tips how to work as an independent artist in the field! How it feels like to work in a pipeline vs. freelance for example. Other than that - Im actually absolutely satisfied with your patreon how it is right now! Community events would be fun but isn't a must - you put already so much into your tutorials which I love to bits! <3
