I felt compelled to do some quick expression sketches, using a bit of a chunkier drawing style! It was fun, it felt quite freeing. Hope you like ‘em!

Amazing work!! I was compelled to copy the expression of the top left 😂

That looks amazing! ❤️I still have so many problems with letting go of realism and trying to make something a bit more "my style". Do you have any advice on that?

Omg . Love the use of color and love the expressions. How do you choose which facial expressions work best for your artwork and which color scheme to use for that specific artwork. You always seem to amaze me

I love these. Has ample details and looks mesmerizing. I really like how you draw everything, it's so flowy and full of life. And you have your own way in blocking your shadows. Your shapes are just chef's kiss. I really don't have any motivation in drawing right now, but watching your videos and posts is therapeutic. More power to your works, Loish!

Ah these are great! Are these more senshi stock refs? SUCH great expressions!

It amazes me how clean your sketches are. I hope someday I can do that. Big big inspiration!

Great! I need this sort of information. They are also fun to view. Your regular beauties sometimes seem so aloof.

Loish

thank you! these are actually referenced from a ref pack I purchased a while back, by grafit studio!

Loish

thanks so much for the kind words paul! sometimes it's important to take a little break from drawing and let the motivation return on its own.

Loish

thank you! the color scheme is very much.. whatever i feel like in that moment! i try to use my intuition as much as possible when making choices like these!

Loish

thank you! for me, it helps to keep my sketches really loose and resist the urge to correct and modify them later on. usually working in a more simplified style (so that i can stick more closely to those initial lines) helps me to work in a stylized way! i also have a lot of exercises for this in my new artbook, it'll be out later this summer (june or after).

Omg i was trying to make an oc of mine have the same expression as the one on the top left… could not get it right but how u have scrunched up the face makes it make so much sense to me 😭🙏🏼✨

Loish

it's a tough one to pull off! it's all in the smaller details but if you add too many it starts to look weird :')

Loish

thanks greg! it's true, I like the more standoffish expressions but it easily becomes a comfort zone for me.

Hi Lo(ish), just wanted to make sure that you knew that although I am not active in the community I truly appreciate your art, effort, creativity and the way you breakdown complex concepts and make them look so easy. Just a quick question for you tho, Were these done with a ref pic? If so can you post it? I'm curious to see what the starting point for these was, what artistic choices were made on what to put in and what to leave out or Gloss over... Sometimes you want to render and detail out everything making a piece look too busy. Thanks.

Loish

hey andre! thank you for the kind words! I did use reference, I had a reference pack from grafit studio that I picked a few from! I just updated the post to include the reference images as well :)
