This month I’m going to try and speedpaint some interior scenes! I usually avoid painting these because I struggle so much with them, but I'm gonna try to pick up some new skills with these speedpaints. Trying to find that balance between believability and imaginative elements to make it feel super cosy and like it could be an animation scene. This one is based on the interior of a tiny house that me and Arjen visited in October!

Also: just finished filming this month's tutorial on painting & rendering in procreate, but the file is huge so it's gonna be a while before it's downloaded onto my computer haha! I will probably post it up next week!

Lovely as always Lois! You seem to blow your explorations/ unfamiliar subjects out of the park consistently! Any secrets to it?

Cant wait for the tutorial :D

Devotionart

It really does feel cozy, I love it 💛

Wait a sec... I thought cosy was spelled cozy with a z! Beautiful interior nonetheless <3

This is beautiful! If you want more inspiration for interiors, check out the #Interiortober and #LovelyClutter tags on Twitter!

Do you sometimes stop working on a drawing for a couple of days and then come back to it! Cause sometime i dont finish a drawing for a month and then come back to it 🤔

Loish

hey catherine! absolutely yes, haha. especially with my digital paintings where I tend to spend a longer time on them.. i sometimes abandon them and don't return to them for ages. sometimes i abandon them forever lol. i posted some WIPs here on patreon at the beginning of last year, that were already years old by that point! and I didn't finish them until months later. but drawings like this one (the cosy interior), I try to finish them within 3-4 hours because it's more practice than a finished piece.

i love that lovelyclutter tag! i think that inspired me to try more interiors this month hehe. i didn't know about interiortober, thanks so much for the tip!

Loish

haha true it is! in the american spelling. i don't know why i was suddenly chanelling british spelling :')

Loish

haha thanks tyler, I'm happy to hear that! I don't really feel they are up to par but I'm trying to get there :) I think my strongest studies/explorations happen when I have a clear focus on what I want to learn and achieve. I do a lot of studies where I'm just kinda drawing loosely and those turn out a lot less strong. I think it really helps me to set a clear goal beforehand and channel my energy into that specific thing, rather than lose my focus and end up just.. rendering for the sake of it. I hope that makes sense!

I love this subject! I like cozy interior so much and have lots of photos which I want to make into a stylized painting - But I also struggling a lot ... because the light source is usually very intricate, and the objects inside need a lot of patience to paint - It's always hard for me to decide which one to emphasis and which one to neglect, and not be caught by the less important details. I wonder if you can have a comment channel to point out the problems in our naive painting and help us to improve?

These speed paints are going to be great. I need help on backgrounds and watching these would be a great start.

hey yifei! i understand, lighting is such a struggle. I generally use techniques really similar to my environment tutorial, just doing a generic setup and then using feathered lasso tool and adjustment tools to tweak the colors as I go. you can find it here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-44069788 as for a comment channel, I am thinking of setting up a discord, but it would be part of a separate tier since it would cost extra time and energy to maintain. I'm looking into it and might launch it in the future but i need to figure out some stuff first. stay tuned :)

The scale of the room seems so grand and spacious but the colors make it intimate and inviting. Eager to see more.
