I saw a photo of this dog breed called a cane corso, and I was really captivated by the fur. Something about the inky dark fur with these glossy highlights made it look like a living drawing! Also, it was really large in size which added to the surreal vibe. So I had to make some studies of them (plus a few dogs that might not be a cane corso but look similar), trying to capture that mysterious quality to them!

Beautiful breed. Of course, I had to look and see what the puppies looked like. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcR6sgCg-Cf1SRmyxuzG-KqyhYmoJPWdv_WaWA&usqp=CAU and https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjkyWDEwMjQ=/z/4O4AAOSwRIlebpk-/$_86.JPG

This looks amazing. Whenever I draw animal fur, I feel obliged to make it really detailed. I want to learn to simplify my drawings more.

Btw, would you show us your workspace one day? Specifically your desk and chair. I've been trying to improve my workspace lately because I feel my back is hurting more and more by the day. I feel I can't stand 15 minutes sitting on my desk.

Loish

thanks! and yes that's a tough one! usually having a high amount of detail in one area can give the impression of detail in the rest of the image, without literally having to draw all of it.

Ive dealt with major back issues and am very young. The best solution I’ve found is to watch how I’m sitting (feet on the floor and/ or alternating how I’m crossing my legs), take small breaks every 30 min or so, and stretches that target my back.

Yes, you're right! I've been doing it for the last few months and it has helped me a lot, but I sometimes feel it's not enough, at least for me. Something I've realized is that I can't keep my chin tucked in when I'm working on my cintiq or computer and keep returning to a foward head posture constantly. Maybe I have to adjust the position of my monitor, tablet and keyboard on the desk.
