Hello everyone and welcome to something you have all been waiting for!

Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Memes and Structures is entering testing today. This means that if there is no bugs what-so-ever (there will be, I'm sure), we are looking at release even BEFORE Vanilla Factions Expanded - Ancients!

The list of new memes has greatly expanded since our initial announcement, and we now established how each of these memes will work.

Overall, there is numerous new precepts (most of them can be picked by fluid ideos and are not locked behind specific memes), many new rituals, many new interesting roles, items, structures and even an odd plant!

Some of the memes are only unlocked if other mods are found, so it's always something to look out for if you're using all of Vanilla Expanded mods.

Please note that list below DOES NOT cover structure-level memes (Eldritch, Corporate etc). This will be covered in the future devblog.

Alrighty, lets see what we've been working on for so long.

That's it for this devblog. These are all the memes we are going to add, we will not add any more, so suggestions, whilst welcomed as always, will not be acted on in this case.
I mean come on, I asked you for suggestions 3 months ago already :P

Let me know what you think, and thanks a lot for reading!

Well, this is going to be interesting to try these out! Hours of replay value good sir. ... Also, the Fry reference on Trader. xD Love it.

Really cool what Ideology has enabled. Completely changes the game imo. Great looking stuff. Can't believe there's more coming.

Wow Wow Wow, Epic, thanks soo much, I really didnt feel there were memes that match my colony ethos in the expansion, but this actual has the needed pieces, this will make ideology more of a positive than a negative to my game im sure.

Will there be any new ideo clothes, like shown in the specialist icons?

oskarpotocki

Only style clothes which will be covered in the future devlog that goes into Styles and Structures.

Really cool stuff. Think, this adds a lot of replayability to the game. Two questions: will certain ideologies have impact on natural relations with other factions? And regarding flesh crafting: does body parts from vfe insectoids count as biological aswell? Maybe those body parts can also give a mood buff for insectoid supremacy - becoming more like your venerated species ;-)

Anonymous

Great stuff! I wonder if the "tame insectoid" ability works on a insectoid queen..

Anonymous

Awesome! Nice FFXIV reference for meditation :P

Whoever coded these is an absolute fucktard

Anonymous

Oh no, what happened to the orgy ritual!

Anonymous

Oh never mind, you haven't shown the new structures yet.

Gergő Ambrus

I'm happy that three of my ideas got implemented ☺

Anonymous

How do the leadership precepts work in pluralist colonies?

Anonymous

I'm really curious to what may have pivoted from the original ideas. Was there anything that had to be dropped for whatever reason, and that you are willing to share?

Anonymous

I don't think so, no. Except some name changes here and there

Anonymous

Very, very nice. Terrific additions, thank you!

Anonymous

Was Serketism one of them? Or is the insectoid style called Serketism? The name actually got me to look into Serket which was neat.

Anonymous

Awesome!

There is actually a problem in bushido. There would be a plenty of situations, where half or more of your colonists are downed at best, and this meme is definitely not going to let you restore from this condition, hitting with unpreceded yearly debuff

Anonymous

Also I think defeat logic in bushido is weird - a bushi pawn must be far more concerned by a death of master, loss of allies and destruction in colony, rather than its own wounds

oskarpotocki

Pluralist as in multiple leader? They don't. Both Leader: Best Crafter and Leader: Three are the same precept and it's either one or another.

oskarpotocki

All of the things you mentioned are not easily trackable within the game. Being downed in combat, on the other hand, is. Don't forget Bushido comes with Pain: Don't Care. It means your colonists won't drop unconscious from pain, and they will only be downed if the wounds are severe enough (for example, both legs removed).

Love the Sweet Teeth icon. Mod looks great and now you got me curious with ''structure-level memes''.

oskarpotocki

Structures define visual style of ingame objects, ritual effects, ritual music and narrative of the ideology. You're gonna love it. I will cover it today.

Anonymous

Oops, my bad, never mentioned pain:dont care goes along with painkiller effect. In that way, of course, pawns will be dead in most cases, rather than downed, which fits here perfectly!

BeardedApocalypse

I feel like a Ranged analogue to Blood Court's melee mastery would have been a natural fit, but maybe we can get an expansion like for Food with some more fun ideas that didn't make it in this version

If you have a exalted priesthood and a republic ..does one get three leaders with priest abilties? If so, I get massive Doom Hellpriest vibes :')

oskarpotocki

You can't have two of the same precept type. Both of them are a part of the 'Leader' precept, so it's one or the other, sorry!

RudDud

Really excited for insectoid taming cause it sounds insanely good
