Hello everyone and welcome to another mod development diary, this time focused on the Hats and Rags module of Vanilla Ideology Expanded.

When Ideology first released, I was a little bummed out how little headgear customization there is for roles. Sure, headwraps, veils etc make each role and ideology feel somewhat unique, but after a while you start noticing repetitions and patterns.

I thought this is an excellent opportunity to add some new headgear to breathe at least a little bit of new life into the role generator.

Would you like to take a look at what apparel I came up with? I'm sure you would!

Let's get right into it.

So yes, as you can see, some of them are inspired with real life religions that are not quite yet covered by Ideology, while others I found to be fun and fitting, for example a Horse mask for your High-life priests.

We are also adding patches for a large amount of Vanilla Apparel Expanded, so that your leader might require a fur pelt, whilst your medical expert - medical scrubs.

I don’t think the head bag is a good idea. Someone going to come along, dye it white and create a KKK cult with it. Maybe redesign it?

Finally my technology-cult can wear the holy garment known as Lab Coat.

It has been specifically chosen NOT to look like the KKK one. It's actually meant to be a bag on the head that you can make out of human leather for your cannibal priests. I am worried that drawing connections to KKK with this mask is the same as drawing connections to talibans from a headwrap in Ideology DLC. Truth be told, it's a single player game, and if someone is insensitive and stupid enough to roleplay as KKK, they will find a way with or without a headbag. Can't really stop it. It's partly the reason why there are real-life religions in Ideology I believe. An author of the mod can't be responsible for what people do with it. It's a very fair point you're raising, but you could also say that slavery shouldn't be in RimWorld because someone can have some wicked roleplay with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EevoRUakA88&ab_channel=TheAngryManchild This is the scene in Django that inspired me to make headbags.

I love the addition of the Fez, Fezzes are cool. I am really excited about the upcoming roadmap. With ideology and Vanilla Expanded, there has never been a better time to be a Rimworld player. There is more content and enjoyment here than any AAA game.

I love it,but what about some tin foil hats so the mole people that run government can't read my colonialists minds. We're growing lots of smokeleaf and can't afford having "THE MAN" looking around.
