Hi everyone, you should get an email stating that billing for May will be paused. That means no charges to your accounts should register and the Patreon is essentially frozen for a month without charge.

I am pausing Patreon because, as I've mentioned before, my plan is to take an entire month off with the completion of Volume 8. I am a bit behind--I had planned to have the 6th and final chapter out before the end of April, but since I'm taking a week per chapter, it seems I'm going to go into May by a bit.

I will be back June with Volume 9, but I have to put the pause into place now. I hope you'll all stick around for when I come back, but I want to do the pause either way because even if I do write in May, and the final chapter comes out, it's still going to be a quiet month here. You've all helped me reach a level of financial stability I didn't think I'd get to and this is me saying 'thanks'.

(I may announce a few things during May like Book 6 coming out as an e-book...once Amazon approves it, and more.)

One more chapter. It'll probably go live for Patrons and public to end the volume, just like a Christmas chapter. Thanks for reading, and wish me luck. Resting one more day until I begin writing. See you Tuesday...hopefully...for the end of Volume 8.

Very happy to keep paying! If you go through with the pause I'll just have to buy the new audiobook instead ;P

Hi Pirate, have a wonderful month off! And please don't put Patreon on hiatus - you have given us such a wonderful story, and more words than at least I can read in a month. (I am backlogged to 8.71!)

Nice...

What if everybody that is wanting to support Pirate on this month off, instead of wanting her Patreon turned back, go buy a copy of the audio or ebook for a friend.

I hate to say this. But breaks are coming more and more often and I'm afraid you are losing your joy in writing. Please take care of yourself. If you leave us with 10 to 15k words a chapter twice a week max your fans would ecstatic. Honestly, 40k, 50k chapters are ridiculous. We would rather have you than those chapters

@Kevin Choi That's not really fair. The breaks are coming more frequently because the chapters are getting longer. If pirate reduce the length of her chapters it would affect the quality. The chapters are getting longer because more and more characters are added to the story. I prefer long, well written chapters, and then even more breaks than now, if that's what's necessary. Rather than consistently getting10-15k chapters where the writing quality will be lowered.

I think the point was more: We rather want the story at a slower pace than Pirate burning out and stopping writing.

Shut up and take my money!

Another longtime reader chipping in that I’d prefer an option *not* to pause payments during your break. Your writing has been an amazingly reliable source of light and inspiration through these past strange and challenging years. I’m grateful and proud to be able to be a supporter of such a cool project. As some folks have mentioned, perhaps you might consider leaving a vacation tip jar if you really don’t feel comfortable leaving an option to stay on as a paying supporter while Volume 9 is in its dev phase. Anyway, mostly, I’m completely rapt and excited for the climax of Vol 8! Cannot. Wait. !!

I whole heartedly believe all or most of us, your readers and fans, prefer to pay may knowing there will be no chapters. It’s an opportunity for us to gift you a vacation. I’ve read the book 5 times now, and still feel it’s the best read out of the thousands of books I’ve read. I would opt in to pay your month off.

Do what you’ve gotta do for your own well-being. You work hard, you deserve a break.

I guess if you're going to force my hand, I'll bump up to the $10 tier for a month to make up the difference.
