Merman Design #5: Hippocampus (Patreon)

Maybe you know that Hippocampus isn't just a part of the brain but also the name of the genus of sea horses.

The name comes from Greek mythology and describes the horses with fish attributes that sometimes pull the chariots of sea gods.

Coming up with an anthro rendition was pretty intuitive to me.

Far less intuitive drawing properly a horse's head. God, those things are very long. Also, the equine cock took a while.

I'm not into anthros with non-human cocks, some of them just make me uncomfortable, but the equine cock for horses feels inevitable. Maybe because, in the end, looks a lot like a human cock if the glans was flattened.

The hippocampi are maybe the more energic and vivacious of the mermen I've created so far. They love to swim, jump out of the water, explore their environment, and to prove their shape to each other by wearing tight harnesses.

Like the classic mermen, they're a hybrid between mammal and fish, so they're on of the few of this world that can breathe underwater and explore the depth of their island.
