Chapter 625: Element No. 7 and High-Dimensional Materials

"Using an entire world as a pasture for breeding magical beasts? Isn’t that too wasteful?"

Lynn Maxwell's proposal of a planetary ranch was indeed shocking and capable of solving the most troubling issues faced by the council, yet Raphael and others still felt some misgivings.

That was, after all, an entire planet of life! "A planet is nothing much..." Lynn naturally saw their concerns and couldn't help but laugh as he spoke. "Don't forget, the Geometric Civilization has given us three star systems, and there are at least two more life planets like this!"

If they could master the appropriate ecological transformation technology, or gain the divine powers of life or creation, they could also transform and convert other planets within the system. Therefore, life planets were actually in excess for them; the empire simply didn't have enough population to colonize them.

"The kingdom’s population is still too small!" Lynn lamented.

Over the past thousand years, under the rule of the empire and the church, the population of this continent totaled about twenty million.

Thanks to their swift conclusion of the continent-wide war, the population had not decreased significantly but had instead increased substantially.

The increase was mainly among the liberated slaves and hidden households, who were previously uncounted in the empire's statistics. Now things were different; all those oppressed by the nobility and the church were the most loyal citizens of the kingdom!

Including the barbarians from the northern territories who had been annexed and the half-humans who had fled from foreign lands, the population had grown by another five million.

However, over these years, births had been the major contributor to population growth! Due to the sharp rise in living standards and the lack of protective measures, the birth rate had skyrocketed like a rocket-propelled engine, causing a population boom from twenty-five million to sixty million!

In just over a decade, the population had nearly doubled, a terrifying speed yet entirely normal. Roughly calculated, the average annual growth rate was only about nine percent. In fact, if not for tightly scheduled work hours, it wouldn’t have been a problem to add a few million more to the population.

Under the empire’s child labor system, the first batch of children over ten years old were already participating in the workforce. These newly educated laborers significantly filled the gap in technical workers.

Even so, in Lynn’s view, it was still far from enough to support a vast star system civilization. A population of ten billion was insufficient, and a hundred billion was barely adequate.

"The growth rate of the population needs to be accelerated further. Actually, some incentives or honors could be considered to encourage childbearing..." Lynn shared suggestions with Harof and others, drawing on policies from his past life that encouraged population growth.

If he remembered correctly, in the era when agricultural civilizations gradually shifted to industrial ones, some countries even achieved annual natural population growth rates of over twenty percent. From a population of sixty million to one billion took only sixteen years—such is the terror of exponential growth! They really didn’t need to worry about a lack of resources; the more people, the better. If they waited for the rise of humanistic ideologies, dreaming of such fertility rates would be pure fantasy.

"By the way, Chairman Lynn..." Victorio suddenly spoke up as if he had thought of something. "Just a month ago, those from the Geometric Civilization sent two warships over to hand over some reparations."

During that time, Lynn had been out of contact, and the sudden appearance of the Geometric Civilization’s fleet within the star system had given them quite a scare.

Fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm. "Element No. 7?" Lynn paused for a moment, quickly guessing what the reparations involved, and immediately became interested.

He had seen something about Element No. 7 in the memories of some individuals from the Geometric Civilization, but he had only accessed memories of non-scientific personnel, so he had only partial basic information.

However, the Geometric Civilization had kept it very secret; previous negotiations had almost led to conflict, which sufficiently proved the importance of Element No. 7, a treasure even star system-level civilizations regarded highly. This was precisely why he had instructed Raphael to demand it during the negotiations.

"Have you figured out anything about it in this month?" Lynn asked curiously.

Victorio's expression turned a bit odd. "This element is very peculiar; it seems to have no fixed form. We've tried many methods but still can’t accurately measure its mass and volume, and even using the Great Deconstruction Spell, we can't break it..."

Victorio's words made Lynn even more interested, and he promptly postponed the originally planned welcoming procedures to first go see the Element No. 7.

The council was obviously aware of its importance, so after completing the handover with the fleet from the Geometric Civilization, they placed it in the lowest level of the Skyfall Tower,

 heavily guarded.

About half an hour later, Lynn passed through a door engraved with runes and saw the long-awaited Element No. 7.

It was a fist-sized clump of material, faintly glowing, and just as Victorio had described, its shape constantly changing. Lynn also noticed subtle changes in the surrounding space.

This was not like the distortion caused by mass but a deeper impact.

Harof, who had studied Element No. 7 the most, couldn't help but speak. "I find this thing seems somewhat similar to divinity. I suspect it might be a kind of..."

"High-dimensional material!" Lynn picked up on Harof's words, agreeing with his view and instantly understanding why the Geometric Civilization valued it so greatly.

Ordinary high-dimensional materials were not anything rare, as micro-particles all possess high-dimensional properties; in a sense, all materials have more than three dimensions, but it seems the universe has some kind of limitation. Once these micro-particles arrange and aggregate into macroscopic materials, they instead lose their original high-dimensional properties.

However, Element No. 7 was different; its volume was trillions of times that of micro-particles, yet it could still exist in a high-dimensional form. This uniqueness was precisely its value! Lynn extended his hand, and under the pull of magic, the Element No. 7 floating at the bottom of the tower moved towards him and landed in his palm.

Then a vast amount of will-enshrouded divine power surged into it, and Lynn soon noticed something different. If divine power were likened to a stream of water, this palm-sized clump of material was like a bucket that could never be filled, endlessly receiving the flow without any sign of being filled...
