Chapter 247: Protection and Being Protected

Machi, Nobunaga, and Uvogin had all signed up, and by the time they were done, at least an hour would have passed. Fortunately, Hisoka had a deck of cards and casually brought out one to play.

Perhaps because he had just killed someone, a murderous aura still lingered on Hisoka, but his demeanor was normal. After clearly understanding why Luo wanted the cards, Hisoka paused and, as if performing magic, produced a complete deck.

Hisoka’s sudden action made Machi and the others' nerves tense up immediately, guarding against any stealth attacks from Hisoka, especially because of the misleading murderous aura still clinging to him.

Compared to the wary expressions of Machi and the others, Luo appeared quite calm as he reached out to take the cards from Hisoka.

Throughout, Hisoka did nothing out of the ordinary. After handing the cards to Luo, he just stood there watching him.

"Thanks."

Luo shook the cards in his hand.

"Can I join in~?" Hisoka asked, corners of his eyes slightly curved.

"No," Luo said seriously.

"Why?" Hisoka asked.

Luo thought for a moment and firmly replied, "You would cheat."

Right on target...

It wouldn't be fun to play cards without a bit of trickery.

"Oh, then never mind."

Hisoka turned abruptly and walked towards the exit.

Luo calmly watched his retreating figure.

Machi and the others did not speak, just watching Luo and Hisoka, completely unable to grasp what was going on between the two.

"By the way."

Hisoka suddenly stopped, slowly turned around to face Luo, and while pressing his index finger on his neck, said, "This problem hasn’t been solved yet."

"If you hadn’t mentioned it, I almost forgot," Luo looked at Hisoka’s neck.

In Meteor Street, Luo had severed Hisoka’s head and ankles, but Hisoka, using his gum-like Nen, had stuck his head and ankles back together. Unless a Nen exorcist was found, or he withdrew the effect himself, Hisoka would have to keep using Nen to stick his head and ankles together.

Hisoka’s finger, pressing on his neck, moved up, smiling slightly, "If I killed you, the effect of the Nen ability would vanish, right?"

As he finished speaking, Machi’s face grew colder, her hands swiftly pulling out a thin line, and her right foot stepping forward, about to charge at Hisoka, but Luo promptly held her back with one hand.

The others were also ready to spring into action.

"It’s okay."

Luo smiled at Machi, then looked at Hisoka and said lightly, "If I die, the effect of the Nen ability would indeed disappear, but in that case..."

"Hmm?" Hisoka’s small pupils reflected Luo’s slightly sinister smile.

"You wouldn’t survive either."

Hisoka’s eyebrows imperceptibly furrowed.

"Think about it seriously for a moment, and you’ll understand," Luo said lightly.

God’s Hand had severed Hisoka’s head, but it was also protecting Hisoka.

If Luo were killed by Hisoka, then Hisoka would face two outcomes.

One, the effect of the Nen ability would disappear, and Hisoka’s head and body would separate, spraying blood from the cut. The other, the post-mortem Nen would become stronger, making it impossible for Hisoka’s head to ever be reattached.

In theory, as long as Luo got hold of anyone’s heart and sealed it in a book, then if Luo died, the person whose heart was taken would also die.

So once Luo took someone’s heart, they would never see daylight again.

Hearing Luo’s words, Hisoka immediately realized the seriousness of the situation and couldn’t relax anymore.

If Luo died one day, he would have to follow suit.

"That must feel awful." Luo watched Hisoka’s increasingly solemn expression, his eyes slightly narrowed, smiling.

Hisoka remained silent, his life tied to someone else’s, which was not a cheerful matter.

Thus, he had to quickly deal with this troublesome issue.

Troublesome as it was, as long as there was strong power to back him up, it wasn’t difficult to resolve.

The so-called right of choice was in the hands of the strong.

After figuring this out, the solemnity on Hisoka’s face disappeared, returning to his previous calm.

"A shared death in hell... hmm, sounds quite nice."

After saying this, Hisoka decisively turned around and left.

Of course, that statement was false.

He could defeat Luo and then coerce Luo into restoring him to his original state, or he could harm someone close to Luo as leverage.

There were many methods, it just depended on when to use them.

Luo watched Hisoka’s departing figure, wondering whether to

 kill him or not.

"Luo, who is this person?"

Machi suddenly asked, the others also seemed curious about this issue.

"A weirdo."

Luo casually answered, then changed the subject and began preparing to play Dou Di Zhu.

Seeing Luo did not wish to elaborate, the others did not press further.

Playing Dou Di Zhu to pass the time, they waited until Machi and the others had completed their first round before putting away the cards and leaving the first floor to go to the food street to find a restaurant and eat together.

Having not seen each other for so long, once they started talking, there seemed to be no end.

At the dinner table, Machi and the others were quite curious about what Luo had been doing over the past year, throwing one question after another without pause.

Luo picked out some of his experiences from that time to share, mentioning Biscuit as well.

However, Biscuit was busy with a shopping spree and did not want to join the bustle, so while Machi and the others knew Luo had taken a master, they did not know what Biscuit looked like.

After Luo finished talking about his own matters, he also asked about Machi and the others, finally understanding what the Phantom Troupe had been up to for nearly two years.

The more serious matter was the looting of a museum.

This was enough to make the Phantom Troupe wanted criminals, yet Machi and the others still brazenly came to register at Heavens Arena.

Speaking of which, from the start of the Phantom Troupe's crimes until the story began, nothing much happened, except for vaguely remembering that a member of the troupe was killed by Silva of the Zoldyck family.

From this, it could be seen that possibly the troupe's strength grew too rapidly, or perhaps, few bounty hunters dared to touch such a tough nut like the troupe.

But now... the troupe was just starting out, far from being as strong as they were after the story began.

"You guys are wanted, yet you dare come to such a conspicuous place?" Luo sighed lightly.

Earlier, when Hisoka revealed his malicious intent, Luo observed everyone's reactions, especially Machi's, who was about to act immediately when Hisoka mentioned killing him.

If bounty hunters came looking for Machi and the others, he could not just stand by; this was the mutual relationship of protection and being protected, and he could not interfere with the troupe's affairs.

In this world, once people possess power, most are capricious, even Biscuit, who would sometimes stop at nothing to obtain beloved items.

Even now, the Hunter Association was under the V5 United Nations, and if V5 required the Hunter Association to carry out some unsavory tasks, the Hunter Association had no choice but to comply.

"Isn’t this to come and find you?" Uvogin, his mouth full of food, spoke unclearly.

Luo barely understood and rubbed his forehead, not knowing what to say, mostly because of that live broadcast...

After a satisfying meal, Luo intended to send Machi and the others to their hotel, but they insisted on following Luo to his 200th-floor room to take a look.

Unable to dissuade them, they all returned to the exclusive room at Heavens Arena.

Upon opening the door, they saw Biscuit lounging on the sofa, holding a magazine featuring handsome men, while many shopping bags piled beside the sofa, evidently her spoils from the shopping spree.

"You... how can you be in my room?" Luo was astonished.

Machi and the others looked at Luo with a strange gaze, while Buhara and Sanbica, who knew Biscuit, had no reaction.

Previously in the restaurant, Luo only mentioned Biscuit's identity and strength, so Machi and the others did not know this cute girl was Biscuit.
