Chapter 246: Fighting Landlords

Humans display their excitement through facial expressions and body language, whether obvious or subtle, traces can always be found.

Hisoka is an anomaly; when his emotions overflow like a river, there is no need to trace them through facial expressions or body language—the aura amplified by his Nen power says it all.

It's as if... the hormones have materialized.

He never conceals his excitement, never suppresses the eruption of emotions stirred by desire. That interest, clearly communicated through his aura, was unmistakably expressed to Luo.

Around Hisoka, the contestants were like puppets on strings, moving in predetermined trajectories, steering clear of him.

They didn’t understand what Nen was, nor the aura that could paint emotions, but at that moment, they only knew Hisoka was extremely dangerous.

The ability to sense danger wasn’t due to a beast-like keen sense of smell but simply because Hisoka magnified the aura of danger to its extreme.

For a brief moment, the space around Hisoka cleared, leaving him sitting there alone, then looking towards Luo.

"How disgusting..."

Nobunaga shuddered, solely because of the deformed emotions that pervaded the coming aura, but he simply reached for the handle of his sword, and then no further action followed.

Machi’s delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, her gaze towards Hisoka gradually cooled down, not caring about the emotions in the aura.

However, the malice mixed within was something she couldn’t tolerate.

Because, this hint of malice was not directed at her, but at Luo.

Squeak...

Her expression was cold as she quietly pulled out a fine thread, a wintry murderous intent released, aimed solely at Hisoka.

Machi's reaction was extreme, but it was expected of her.

Whenever someone showed their fangs as a threat to those she cared about, she would ruthlessly pull those fangs, committing egregious sins if necessary, much like a tigress protecting her cubs.

Such protective behavior was normal for the people of Meteor Street.

To those who were accepted and recognized, it didn’t matter if the person was right or wrong; they would stand on the same side without hesitation.

Compared to Machi's extreme reaction, Sanbica and Buhara were somewhat better, but their gaze towards Hisoka was filled with vigilance, ready to act at any moment.

"Hmm, everyone is so..."

Hisoka’s eyes curved to extremes, the small pupils reflecting the figures of Luo and the others, trembling slightly.

He enjoyed Machi’s cold murderous intent, Nobunaga's concealed readiness to act, and the fangs and claws shown by Sanbica and Buhara like wary little beasts.

These responses, like signals, were picked up by his nerves, which could be described as antennae, causing a noticeable reaction in his lower body.

Among them all, only Luo remained calm, his expression when looking at Hisoka was like seeing an insignificant trouble.

Hisoka quietly observed Luo's reaction, then slowly retracted his aura, and his boiling emotions also gradually calmed down.

He never suppressed his emotions, and if he had to, he would find another outlet.

Not yet...

He thought this, so he retracted his aura.

If he was to find pleasure in Luo, it wasn’t the moment, not here and now, but somewhere higher above their heads.

Thus, he not only retracted his aura but even shifted his gaze to the sixteen uninteresting battles happening below, as if the previous events were merely an illusion.

Everything happened so suddenly and vanished just as mysteriously, like a lunatic.

Seeing Hisoka acting so inexplicably, Nobunaga slowly moved his hand away from his sword's handle, Machi's pulled thread dissipated into Nen and disappeared, but her brows were still lightly furrowed, Sanbica and Buhara suppressed the fluctuations of their Nen back to the state of Ten.

The momentarily disturbed atmosphere returned to calm.

Luo, always composed, sighed lightly. He felt that Hisoka's contrasting behavior before and after was more like the calm before a storm.

But now, he was unafraid of this so-called storm, or rather, Hisoka no longer had enough presence to warrant his vigilance.

To put it harshly, Hisoka now probably didn’t even have half the strength of Antomu.

After all, Hisoka and Machi were not yet at their rapidly growing phase, there was still a long way to go before the story began.

Seeing Hisoka suddenly quiet down, Luo redirected his gaze, turning his head to look at Machi and Nobunaga, asking, "Did you both sign up?"

"Yes," Machi and Nobunaga nodded simultaneously.

Luo rubbed his temple, saying, "You must have been infected by Uvogin, huh? He didn't come, but you guys showed up."

"Uvogin is here too." Nobunaga pointed his thumb

 toward the back passage.

"Where is he then?" Luo looked towards the passage.

"When he arrived, something happened at the registration desk, I don't know why, but those preparing to register ended up in a brawl, and Uvogin thought that was the registration method, so he joined in the fun," Machi glanced at the silent Sanbica, explaining.

Not far away, Hisoka, facing the platform below, had a red arrow above his head pointing directly at him.

Everyone was unaware that the chaos was caused by Hisoka's Bungee Gum, continuing their conversation.

"That guy really is..." Luo shook his head slightly, then asked, "Is everything okay with the troupe now? You guys are so free, yet you still came to register."

"We just raided the Saint Maria Museum a while ago, now we’re on a break," Nobunaga scratched his cheek.

Machi suddenly elbowed Nobunaga in the ribs, causing him to look puzzled at Machi.

The spider’s movement... has finally begun.

Luo thought silently.

At that moment, a familiar voice came from the entrance—it was Uvogin.

He walked in from the entrance, shouting towards them, and strode over energetically.

"Luo."

Uvogin came over, excitedly gave Luo a hug, then let go, but his hands remained on Luo's shoulders, excitedly saying, "Come down and fight with me."

Luo swatted Uvogin's hands away, annoyed, "Is fighting all you think about?"

Uvogin earnestly replied, "And eating."

"Alright, wait until you finish the first match before talking about it, the contestants on the lower levels are mostly ordinary people, don't overdo it," Luo warned helplessly.

His words had just ended when a shout erupted from the venue, looking towards the source, one of the sixteen platforms below showed Hisoka standing there, his opponent lying motionless on the ground.

A playing card, deeply embedded in the man’s forehead.

The referee, shocked, played with the playing card in his hand, but being experienced, calmly pulled out a machine, printed out a pass, and handed it to Hisoka.

After receiving the pass, Hisoka didn't head towards the exit. Under the gaze of the audience in the venue, he instead returned to the spectator stands, coming up to Luo.

He still had a lingering murderous aura, but his expression was calm.

Machi and the others reacted to Hisoka’s provocation, protectively standing by Luo’s side.

Luo's reaction, however, was very calm. He looked at Hisoka and suddenly asked, "Do you have enough playing cards on you?"

Hisoka paused, then said, "Enough~"

"Hmm, then give me a deck," Luo reached out his hand, suddenly remembering something, added, "Make sure it includes jokers."

Hisoka stroked his chin, puzzled, "What do you need playing cards for?"
