Chapter 99: Departure

Luo can be said to be an all-category Nen user. In theory, as long as he grasps the principles of Nen usage and his data attributes are sufficiently high, he can replicate almost any technique.

For instance, Gon's Jajanken is not difficult for him to use with his current capabilities, once he comprehends it.

The action of flinging his aura onto a box ten meters away utilizes the characteristics of an Emitter to apply the power of God's Hand.

Sanbica's virus control, from a literal interpretation, seems akin to Manipulation but could also be considered Specialization.

If he could unravel this principle and merge it with the power of God's Hand, perhaps he could control not just viruses but also many more subtle materials, not to mention bones and blood.

Moreover, Luo did not overlook Sanbica's act of touching the virus solution and making a judgment, which likely relates to an analytical ability, similar to his white smoke typography, where touching an object reveals a lot of information.

Another point of concern for him was Sanbica's hands after she removed her gloves—pale and veined, where one could almost see the fine blood vessels. This might be the reason she is always so covered up, or perhaps... her body is too frail?

In any case... the decision was to keep Sanbica close, even if just temporarily.

"I've given you the G2 virus, but I have a condition."

Luo looked at Sanbica as if observing a rare animal, and she, startled by his gaze, backed away several steps.

"Don't worry, it's not an unreasonable condition. Besides, the choice to agree lies with you; I won't force you."

Luo smiled and approached her, like a creeper cornering a little girl.

Despite being several years older, Sanbica couldn't help but retreat under Luo's pressure, feeling an urge to turn and flee.

As she backed away, she loudly said, "Stop right there, just talk from there."

Luo stopped, a smirk crossing his face as he shrugged, saying, "Alright, my condition is..."

...

Minutes later, Sanbica, having agreed to the condition, followed Luo into the house. Before entering, she saw Luo extinguish a flame with a wave of his hand, unable to grasp the extent of his powers.

The ability to silently suffocate a target? Stopping bullets and striking back? Dissecting objects into countless pieces with Emitter abilities? Extinguishing roaring flames with a mere gesture?

With her understanding, she couldn't link these abilities together, making Luo appear mysterious and profound. Considering Luo's age, she deemed him a fearsome individual.

Despite her limited experiences and knowledge, she couldn't confine her judgment to that alone.

Upon entering the house and halfway to the control room, they encountered bodies everywhere, blood flowing like rivers. The first sight was of decapitated corpses, Luo's handiwork.

Diverse methods of death...

Sanbica glanced at Luo, asking, "Did you kill these people?"

Luo didn't respond verbally, only nodding.

Seeing his nod, Sanbica fell silent.

Walking past the headless corpses, they arrived at the inner courtyard in front of the control room, a scene akin to a hell of carnage, making Sanbica's dark eyes tremble slightly.

The corpses there died in two ways: some suffocated like the sixty-plus outside, and others were dissected like the box, cut into dozens of pieces.

The copious amount of blood nearly covered the entire courtyard, the air thick with a pungent smell of blood.

Facing this scene, Sanbica's face paled further, unable to help but ask, "Did you kill these people too?"

Luo stopped at the edge of the blood pool, turning to glance at Sanbica, saying, "Yes."

Sanbica's eyes narrowed. If all these people were killed by Luo, he could have let the gang members die by suffocation—there was no need for decapitation or dismemberment, actions that seemed excessively cruel.

She didn't understand the circumstances Luo faced then, so her judgment wasn't surprising.

The dismembered corpses in the courtyard weren't Luo's intention; he merely wanted to test a method of killing enemies without using a book, but the expanded range resulted in reduced control accuracy, causing some gang members to die from the actual effect of God's Hand.

"Do you think it's cruel?" Luo sighed lightly, looking ahead at the bloody hell, calmly saying, "I didn't expect to kill so many people either. Such a thing would have been unthinkable to me a few months ago."

"Moreover, I don't think I did anything wrong. Subconsciously, I might even consider it a necessary path for me, just a form of self-consolation, I guess."

Saying this, a bitter smile appeared on Luo's lips as he said, "You're a doctor, you must be quite disgusted by me right now, right? If you want to back out, it's still not too late. If you wish to leave, I won't stop you."

Sanbica looked ahead, silent for a moment before speaking, "The phrase I've heard most often since I can remember is: 'Sanbica, your existence is for the benefit of all humanity. From now on, you must always remember this.'"

Luo's bitter smile faded as he turned to look at her.

"That was what my father said. Even now, I still don't fully grasp the importance of the term 'all humanity.' But these corpses definitely don't count among them, so how they look after death has nothing to do with me, and it's not worth caring about."

After saying this, Sanbica fearlessly stepped forward, not minding the blood on the ground.

"Wait a moment."

Luo suddenly reached out and pressed on Sanbica's shoulder, trying to stop her from stepping into the pool of blood. As soon as his hand touched her shoulder, she swiftly shrugged it off, as if she minded anyone touching her.

"Add a condition that you can't touch me," Sanbica turned her head and said quietly to Luo.

"OK," Luo chuckled bitterly. He had no intention of taking advantage of her; he merely wanted to use his ability to part the blood, to avoid stepping in it.

Without further explanation, he led the way, activating his Nen to separate the blood on the ground, revealing a clean path.

Sanbica, seeing this, seemed to understand and silently followed behind Luo.

The two crossed the pool of blood and went straight into the control room to join Kenda and the others.

Upon seeing Luo, Elly flung herself into his arms.

Luo, somewhat helplessly, embraced Elly, then turned to Kenda and said, "The enemies have all been dealt with. I might leave soon."

"Luo, you're leaving?" Elly suddenly looked up, her eyes widening at Luo.

"Yes, things are pretty much settled, and I can't just stay here forever," Luo replied.

Elly's lips quivered, pleading, "Can't you stay?"

"Sorry, I have many things to do," Luo said as he patted Elly's head. Having absorbed the Nen from Barney's collection, his strength had significantly increased, making him believe he could now go back to Meteor Street to reclaim his position as the true leader.

Elly's face fell at his words.

"Luo, can you wait until my arm is healed before you go?" Kenda then asked.

"I won't leave right away, as there are still some loose ends to tie up," Luo thought of the five bodies outside, then suddenly turned to Sanbica, asking, "Can your Nen accelerate the healing of Kenda's arm?"

Sanbica nodded, saying, "Yes."

Using viruses to heal external injuries might be something only Sanbica could do.

Hearing Sanbica's reply, Luo was somewhat surprised. He had only asked on a whim, not expecting a positive answer.

This meant he wouldn't need to stay here too long and could return to Meteor Street sooner.

However, before heading back to Meteor Street, he needed to deal with the issue of the number of pages in his book. After all, attempting to reclaim his position might mean facing off against the entire Meteor Street, and having more pages would certainly be better.

The method to increase the number of pages, unsurprisingly, involved saving people. But even for a doctor, saving one person per day might be the limit.

Luo wasn't a doctor, and finding an environment where he could quickly increase the number of saved people wasn't easy.

He had thought carefully about this problem and finally came up with a solution... the Hunter Exam!
