Chapter 18: The Odds of Overcoming the Weak with the Strong

Machi let out a low, pitiful scream as she was thrown dozens of meters away before heavily hitting the ground.

After she landed, the force acting on her didn't completely dissipate immediately, causing her to roll over a dozen times before slowly coming to a stop.

A trail of blood paved a striking red carpet on the ground.

Cook casually stabbed Machi's thighs twice, then threw her aside as if she were a piece of torn cloth.

In just a few seconds, a brutally cold scene unfolded before Luo.

Crossing dense forests, swampy wetlands, steep cliffs, and perilous mountains, facing wild beasts and venomous snakes, Luo had never witnessed such cold-blooded cruelty in his many adventures.

To regard human life as grass and kill for amusement!

Cook's cruel actions were a baptism for Luo's values.

"Prey should have this kind of expression."

Cook, looking at Luo whose expression was filled with anger, gleamed with ecstasy in his triangular eyes. The conjured delicate scalpel danced between his fingers like a butterfly, casting striking glints of cold light.

"Do you know? If power isn't used for killing, then it's meaningless."

The scalpel that Cook was twirling between his fingers suddenly came to a halt, clenched in his hand.

He looked at Luo, whose aura increased due to anger, and said coldly, "Ever since I encountered Nen, I've understood one thing... what my Nen is meant for."

"Ah, it's for killing!"

"Before I had developed my Nen abilities, I often wondered what kind of Nen abilities would make it impossible for someone to resist being hurt and then die."

Cook smiled as he walked towards Luo, saying, "Until one day, I came across a book on dissection. That's when I finally...!"

Cook's tone became turbulent, his expression gradually intoxicated, but then he suddenly stopped, tilted his head slightly upward, excitedly saying, "I finally found it!"

As he finished speaking, he slowly moved his arm forward, hanging the sharp blade of the scalpel in front of his face, the cold light reflected from the bright blade caught in his triangular eyes, filled with bone-chilling coldness.

He slowly licked the blade of the scalpel, calming his emotions, and smiled, "The irresistible thing for humans, this is my Nen ability. With this scalpel, I can easily cut through the defense of aura."

"Books on dissection are meant to help people save lives, not take them."

Luo deeply understood that the person in front of him was nothing but a demon wearing human skin, with no justification for forgiveness.

The rage filling his heart calmed down at an unimaginable speed, turning into a calm as deep as a valley's bottom.

From extreme anger to extreme calmness, it took only a sentence.

This miraculous transformation also slowed down the spontaneous eruption of visible aura around him.

Luo's thoughts cooled down completely. He knew very well that at this moment, anger would only hasten his own death.

If he fell here, Machi and the others would also be buried with him, so not only could he not fall, but he also had to eliminate the danger posed by Cook.

The noticeable change in Luo's expression also caused a change in Cook's expression.

"Your expression... is wrong. It shouldn't be like this."

Cook's grip on the scalpel intensified, his fingers turning pale due to the pressure.

"You must read a lot, huh?"

Luo stared coldly at Cook, thoughts on how to defeat this man rapidly spinning in his head.

The opponent's Nen abilities and skills were obviously more solid than his own, and he had already developed his own Nen abilities, making the gap between them too obvious.

First, he needed to provoke Cook's emotions to find an opportunity. Secondly, he only had one chance.

If he couldn't incapacitate Cook in one go, there would be no chance of winning. This was the disadvantage of facing a stronger opponent with weakness.

To defeat an enemy stronger than oneself, one must be like a scorpion, never delivering its venomous sting until a sure hit is guaranteed. What I lack now is the venomous sting that will decide the outcome!

If there is one... it would be my Nen ability!

As his thoughts rapidly spun, Luo somewhat regretted not continuing to experiment with the Nen ability that could strip off Machi's clothes.

Hearing Luo's words, Cook's gaze turned cold, but he didn't speak, continuing to walk towards Luo.

"If you read a lot, then you must have come across the saying... 'The villain always dies talking too much,' right?"

Watching Cook approach step by step, Luo began to consciously control the visible aura surging around him. The ability to strip off clothes might be his only reliance.

"Heh, hehe..."

Cook suddenly laughed neurotically , staring coldly at Luo with a chilling tone: "You mean to say... I'm going to die? Interesting, very interesting! I've changed my mind. I want you to watch closely as I 'take good care' of Machi during your slow death from blood loss, then you can die in miserable howls."

Just the description alone was enough to make Luo unwilling to imagine such a scene, and Cook's cold and chilling words made Luo genuinely resolve to take this man down himself.

This is the dark side of Meteor Street, no, it should be said, the dark side of the world.

"You will die, I guarantee it."

Luo suddenly clenched his fists, gathering a portion of his aura in his eyes, staring at Cook with an extremely calm tone, announcing Cook's forthcoming demise.

Cook's aura suddenly erupted, and like a cheetah, he lunged at Luo, identified as his prey, with surging murderous intent.

The conjured scalpel, capable of easily slicing through aura, aimed at Luo's carotid artery like the venomous fangs of a snake.

"I can see it."

The aura concentrated in his eyes allowed Luo to clearly see Cook's movements.

Facing this thrust, Luo leaped to the right, narrowly avoiding the attack, and instead of counterattacking immediately after dodging, he cautiously created distance. His thought process did not stop there.

The method of death by excessive blood loss...

Relying on one's own imagination, then conjuring the scalpel...

The scalpel aiming directly at the carotid artery...

The casual posture when dealing with the enemy, assured of victory...

These four factors, based on the opponent's words and actions, merged in his mind, ultimately leading to a conclusion, the key to victory.

"I can win!"

At that moment, even though his opponent's Nen abilities were far stronger than his own, Luo was fully confident he could overcome him.

Cook was taken aback by the missed attack, more surprised by the fact that this novice in combat didn't take the chance to counterattack when he was vulnerable.

Was it growth, or just a coincidence?

Cook stopped his forward momentum, stood straight, and coldly looked at Luo, who had created a distance of several tens of meters.

Realizing his attack had missed, he intentionally exposed a significant opening, hoping to lure Luo into a trap. However, Luo didn't hesitate to pass up this rare opportunity.

Indistinctly, Cook felt something different about Luo, but that sensation was vague, unable to be clearly defined.

Yet, with the absolute dominance of Nen abilities, Cook didn't feel any risk facing Luo.

A brat who can only half-use Ten and Ren, what waves could he possibly make? As long as he maintained his Ten, this kid couldn't hurt him.
