Chapter 17: Scalpel

Killing intent is an ethereal thing. It's intangible, yet it has a palpable sensation just like a physical entity.

The bald man, Cook, did not hide his desire to torture and kill the four people in front of him. Through the aura he exuded, he magnified this inhumane intention to the extreme.

Thus, the killing intent pricked Luo and his companions like countless needles.

These invisible needles constantly reminded Luo and his companions of two things: Cook was dangerous, and Cook wanted to kill them.

Murdering one's peers is one of the forbidden acts in Meteor Street, but as Machi had said before, this rule is not absolute. Just like now, a stranger who disregarded the rules suddenly appeared in front of them, intending to kill them.

"Two ways to die? You know Marza, don't you?"

While Machi, Uvogin, and Nobunaga were intensely focused and staring deathly at Cook, Luo was the only one who remained somewhat calm. Hearing Cook's words, he immediately thought of Marza.

"Bingo! But no prize." Cook's eyes narrowed slightly, and he licked the corner of his lips, tilting his head as he looked at Luo with a chilling tone: "I thought you could scare Marza with just one sentence, you must have some skills. But it turns out you can't even use Ten proficiently, I'm disappointed."

From the moment Cook appeared, Luo had instinctively used Ten, keeping his aura around his body. Due to his lack of proficiency, only the aura around his upper body was stable, which Cook saw clearly.

Ten is a basic technique among Nen abilities. Those who can't even master the basics, how strong can they be? As for the other three, judging from the aura unintentionally leaking out of them, they indeed seem stronger than ordinary people. But if they haven't come into contact with Nen, they are ultimately just ordinary people.

In summary, these four brats are too weak, so Cook was confident and not in a hurry to make a move.

There are many ways to hunt, and one of them is to slowly torture the prey to death.

"It doesn't matter anymore."

Cook extended his index finger, first pointing at Uvogin and Nobunaga from a distance, smiling, "You two, will die from 'internal organ rupture.'" After saying this, he pointed at Luo and Machi, continuing, "As for you two, will die from 'excessive blood loss.'"

Cook's tone was very calm, without much fluctuation, but it put a lot of pressure on Machi, Uvogin, and Nobunaga.

"Machi, Luo, you two go first."

Uvogin took a few steps forward, standing in front of Luo and Machi. His expression turned ferocious; the pressure from Cook was so immense that even finishing a sentence seemed to make him gasp for air.

Nobunaga didn't speak, but he stood beside Uvogin, expressing his intention through actions.

"Don't even think about it." Machi immediately retorted without hesitation.

"Stop arguing. The three of you don't know Nen; staying here will only get in the way. Just get lost." Luo took a deep breath. Even in such a dangerous moment, he managed to show a handsome smile.

The feeling of nostalgia... seemed to have returned.

Cook's triangular eyes slightly narrowed, his aura suddenly surged around his body, and then he moved.

"Be careful!" Luo's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and just as the warning words barely left his mouth, Cook concentrated the burst of aura on his feet, accelerating his movement speed, and in the blink of an eye, he was in front of Uvogin and Nobunaga.

"Bang bang!"

Cook's fists struck both Uvogin and Nobunaga in the chest.

With not much distance between them and Cook's speed being too fast, by the time Uvogin and Nobunaga reacted, the fists had already hit their chests.

The powerful impact made them fly backward, colliding with Luo and Machi behind them, and all four flew more than ten meters before landing heavily.

"First... the death method of internal organ rupture."

Cook withdrew his fists, looking at the four who had flown more than ten meters away, revealing a dangerous smile, then slowly walked towards them.

The fists wrapped in aura were not something an ordinary person could withstand, meaning Cook's punches could easily kill an ordinary person.

However, Uvogin and Nobunaga's physical condition was stronger than that of an ordinary person. After taking a punch head-on, although they didn't die immediately, they passed out directly.

The two of them hadn't learned Nen yet, but judging from the aura involuntarily leaking out, they would probably open their aura nodes soon. Once they opened their aura nodes and awakened to Nen, their cultivation would surely advance by leaps and bounds.

There are two ways to open aura nodes: one is to do it voluntarily, and the other is to have it forced open through brute force.

Now, having received a punch wrapped in aura from Cook, their aura nodes were forced open at that moment, meaning they had stepped into the threshold of Nen. The prerequisite, of course, was that they survive.

"Uvogin, Nobunaga." Machi got up, looking at the two lying motionless on the ground, her face filled with urgency.

"Stay calm, Machi."

Luo suppressed the anger in his heart, quickly checked Uvogin and Nobunaga's condition, knew they were not dead, but he didn't say it out loud. Instead, he stepped forward, standing in front of Machi and the others as if using his body to block the danger.

At this moment, Machi also saw that Uvogin and Nobunaga had only passed out, but judging from the blood continuously flowing from their mouths, the situation was very dangerous. After all, without prompt medical treatment, they wouldn't last long either.

"My habit is to deal with the weak first, and then the strong."

Cook looked at Luo, who was trying to appear calm, and scoffed coldly: "So, before I've dealt with Machi, it's time for you to run away. Oh, and personally, I have a particular interest in little girls, dead or alive, cold or warm, it makes no difference to me."

"Ah!"

At this point, Cook suddenly patted his bald head as if he had just thought of something, his eyes widening as he said with a trembling voice: "Just don't cut the carotid artery, maybe when I'm done with you, Machi's body temperature will still be there."

"So, are you going to run, or... wait to die?"

Luo's pupils contracted sharply, the man in front of him... utterly inhumane and extremely cruel.

"Beast!"

Aura burst out from within Luo, through all the aura nodes in his body, enveloping him in a white light.

Boom!

He stomped on the ground with both feet, the impact propelling his body forward like an arrow shot from a bow towards Cook.

"Hmm? You know how to train, but..." Seeing the aura surging around Luo, Cook was slightly surprised, his mouth curling into a disdainful smile. He sidestepped, avoiding the punch Luo swung with the momentum of his charge.

"Too naive."

As they passed by each other, Cook's fingers conjured a delicate silver scalpel, slashing across Luo's right arm.

Splurt!

Blood sprayed from the wound on the right arm.

Luo's body, slightly suspended in the air, lost balance and tumbled several meters upon hitting the ground.

"Surprised?"

Cook turned to look at Luo lying on the ground, but found that Luo wasn't surprised, just his expression became more solemn.

"You're a Conjurer." Luo slowly got up, glanced at the slowly bleeding wound on his right arm, thankful it wasn't deep, but it hurt with every movement.

"Oh, you know."

Cook waved the scalpel in his fingertips, suddenly noticing the surprised look on Luo's face, but he wasn't surprised. With a sideways movement, he didn't even look back as he stretched out his left hand and grabbed Machi who was aiming a punch at the back of his head, by the neck.

"I haven't come looking for you, yet you've delivered yourself to my doorstep."

Cook licked his lips, regardless of Machi's reaction, the scalpel plunged into each of her legs, then he violently threw her aside.

"Machi!"

Luo's face suddenly showed an expression of extreme anger!
