Wolf

I transform back into my hunter form and let out a roar right back at the devourer, seemingly surprising the massive being. Then I break the sound barrier as I rush forwards, straight at the devourer. Once again startling the big lug.

Only to be swatted like a fly, sending me flying so far across the pitch black expanse of emptiness that the devourer almost leaves my sight. Partially because there’s no gravity, nothing to hit, and not even any air to slow me down. But mostly because the thing is fucking strong.

I manage to catch myself with ice element after coughing out more than a little blood. And I quickly realize that this devourer is far too strong for Sapphire to even join the battle.

“Sapphire,” I call out mid-cough, “shadow.”

She quickly arrives, catching up to where I ended up with a sad look on her face.

“Look, you can help me by splitting your stamina,” I tell her, making her perk up right away. “Okay?”

This time she looks a lot happier going into my shadow than she ever has before.

That’s good.

It’s unfortunate that the Corruption Ring and Frost Devouring Ring are both useless right now. Because I can’t devour the elements nearby to empower myself when there are no fucking elements… nearby…

I blink as I look down at the ice element behind me that I just used to stop my impromptu flight.

Huh.

That could…

Huh.

I spread my arms out before releasing a massive cloud of ice element all around me. Then, without hesitation, I activate the Ring of Frost Devouring to devour it all.

It feels weird. Almost wrong. Like I’m eating myself or something.

But it’s working. I feel myself growing stronger from the effects of the ring and my ice element.

So I do the most logical thing I could possibly do right now.

I run away while making ice element and eating it, leaving the devourer far behind shouting at me about being a coward.

Imperial Stream

Silence fills the stream as everyone stares at the screen in front of them.

Eventually it’s broken by Leo muttering, “He can do that…?”

No one responds for several seconds until Diane mutters, “Apparently…”

Then the silence returns with every one of the rulers of the universe just watching as the Reaper of the Blue Moon runs away from a massive, planet-sized devourer that is ever so slowly chasing after him. All while the man himself just constantly creates more ice element and eats it.

This process then proceeds to go on for a few hours. So long that some of the rulers in the viewing room simply ask others to tell them when the battle starts and begin to leave.

It isn’t until nearly half a day passes that the Reaper of the Blue Moon finally stops running and eating before turning around to face the devourer again.

“You think he got enough strength from all that?” Leo asks his wife with a frown.

She doesn’t say anything, instead watching the screen as Wolf rushes straight at the devourer, seemingly aiming for his head. Which, while likely is a weak point, is also where the devourer’s mouth is. Where the devourer tries devouring things.

So Diane and the other rulers can’t help but question why he would target that area first, since it’s also the most dangerous. And he’s already clearly outmatched.

None of them having seen the System Favor message or the System menu made out of ice element, the two not being shown to viewers.

Before Wolf reaches the devourer, he quickly tosses something behind him. But the screen moves too quickly for the viewers, who weren’t expecting it, to see what it is that he threw. And they don’t have the time to look at the rerun, so they just watch as the Reaper of the Blue Moon rushes straight for the surprised devourer’s open mouth.

All they manage to see is a strange coin in his left hand and the vial of poison from Pestilence in the other, leading to many of them quietly asking Pestilence about what’s in it. But the harbinger stays silent, not saying a word.

Diane’s grip on her throne tightens to the point of it beginning to crack, but she doesn’t say anything or show any hint of her current thoughts on her face. Meanwhile the other rulers all show extreme confusion, their attention focused solely on the screen with some beginning to wonder if The Winter Wolf has decided to just kill himself.

Then, right when he’s about to enter the void that is the devourer’s mouth, he tosses the vial of poison into its mouth and flips the coin, making him suddenly vanish less than a second before the devourer chomps down on where he was. And at the same time, The Winter Wolf reappears several dozen meters back, right on top of the item that he had dropped.

An item that the rulers quickly find to be a coin.

Diane’s eyes widen in pleasant surprise as her grip on her throne loosens and she exclaims, “Right! He got a pair of teleportation coins ten floors back!”

Teleportation coins. Coins that allow the user to teleport from one coin to the other a single time, regardless of the location of the coins. With the only exception of crossing realms entirely.

Most of the viewers had forgotten about them because The Winter Wolf rarely ever uses consumables outside of stamina potions since they’re generally a lot weaker than he is and therefore less efficient.

Now that he’s done what he set out to do, The Winter Wolf quickly beats a hasty retreat far from the devourer, who has just frozen stiff. Then he stops after making it millions of meters away from the creature before turning around to look at it. All of the viewers in every viewing room watching the battle do the same, trying to figure out what the poison does.

And it doesn’t take long for them to see the effects.
