Morning folks,

Early access for Scarlet Law version 0.3.9 is finally ready for release. Rita's storyline rages on... but first we have to get to Viera! I'll be starting her Scarlet Contract in the next update. Then once that's taking care of, we'll probably get back to Rita's arc.

This update itself will be very lore heavy. We'll learn how Viera's been doing in the prison, along with meeting the final active Champion, Cinderella. I originally felt that the story scenes would be enough to finish the update on. However, I decided to add a side scene for Makoto to maybe spice the update up.

It's going to be a busy few months outside of SL for me. I've been doing some thinking and feel that I should prioritize my livelihood for once. I feel like Scarlet Law has dominated my life for the past few years and the amount of passion and work I put into the game has made the journey an incredible ride. I've been consistently releasing an update every month for the past 2 years and just been wondering how much longer I can keep going. To the OG's out there, do you remember when I used to work my day job AND have an update biweekly? Those were the days... and it was so fun working on SL that I remember actually working on the game while at work, lol.

I always feel like I'm in a catch 22. A part of me is losing my passion for the project, while the other part of me knows that I can't give up. I'm just not making enough to turn this into a career and we all have to wake up and face reality eventually. I don't think SL will ever be as big as some of the other games out there. There's been no sign of it happening for a while now.

Though, maybe I'm just being moody. I've been like this since the start of the year when I realized how little we grew over 2022. To the kind folks who always tell me to take a break, thank you. It really does mean a lot to me knowing that you guys care about my welfare. Unfortunately, it's probably not a good idea to take a break unless I absolutely need to. There's a part of me that feels that the moment I take a break from updates is the moment the game will die. Not only that but I know that the game will definitely take a hit financially if I do that. I think the biggest cause of my anxiety is seeing the game dip. It just makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong.

But yeah, that's my usual rant. If I'm forced to turn SL into a side project, I'll let you guys know, of course. I appreciate everything you've done for me. It's so amazing to know how many of you support my work.

Let's keep pushing into April,

JYP
