Battle map dimensions - [16 x 26]

Hey everyone!

I'm thrilled to bring to you my latest battle map - "Corporate Penthouse Office".

This is one of the last maps from my backlogged to-do list and I have almost cleared the list out! I'm personally looking forward to tackling those new map ideas that many of you have presented via the Discord group.

Room Features & Usage

While this can be used as a standalone battle map, it is much better paired with the following:

Building your campaign around these maps will provide seamless continuity for your players.

Waiting Room

A pair of elevators provide access to the penthouse floor. A waiting room that is usually occupied by a secretary during business hours provides an area for the players to ready themselves before the main event.

Penthouse Suite

The suite is actually huge and the size reflects the ego of the corp CEO that it belongs to.

Towards the left wall of the office is a collection of valuable artifacts resting on pedestals and encased in glass. A possible mission scenario idea: steal one of these artifacts and escape unnoticed.

To the east lies a slightly elevated platform and a large marble column that comes with a built in bookshelf. A motion sensor rests at the top of the column covering the majority of the room. Acts such as lifting or breaking the glass encasing the artifacts will trigger the sensor and the room's security system.

Against the southwest wall is an opulent bar and a bottle shelf that doubles as a secret door that leads to a panic room (or safe room). The panic room contains a weapons stash, a wall safe and a computer system to monitor what happens outside through the eyes of the wall-mounted cameras.

Scenario idea: before the players enter the penthouse, get them to roll on a sneak check. If they are not being discreet about it, the CEO will hear them coming and make a beeline straight for the panic room. From the panic room, he will trigger the security system when the players enter the room, trapping them in the penthouse until building security arrives.

Map Variants

Trip Security

This is a ground-based security system. I've kept its effect vague so you can choose the narrative that best fits your scenario. It might be a laser system that slices limbs. Or in the case of cyberpunk, immobilize the players through the deactivation of their prosthetics or augmentation when they come into contact with the floor.

The coffee table, the couches and the elevated platform will act like islands that the players may hop on top of to make their way to safety.

Fire Stairwell

This variant provides more scenario options for the GM. The stairwell leads to lower levels and also to the rooftop. This is where the helipad map comes in. Perfect for when the CEO (or the players) need to make a quick escape and the main door is not an option.

Transparent Windows

One of my patrons from the Discord group requested that I throw in a variant where the glass windows are transparent allowing for game masters to replace the city background with an image of their choice (like space for example).

Note: This file is in .PNG format and is heavy (about 8 MB).

Awesome! I can use this soon in my Traveller HERO campaign!

Hey, I know you mostly do cyberpunk/near future maps, but if you ever do a series regarding sci fi, a couple of starship bridges and maybe engineering rooms with different levels to fight back and forth on, etc. would be amazing (perhaps small, medium and large bridges?) I believe you’ve done some starship stuff before, but I confess I haven’t checked super recently.

fragmaps

Yeah the reason I've not leaned heavily into sci-fi is because more than 50% of my subscriber base is made up of cyberpunk and similar genre style folks. But bridges and engineering rooms are not off the table - at all. They can be styled in a such a way to keep everyone happy.

Metaphor Underbog

Yeah, you have to go where the money is, for sure. I get that. Just throwing out there that you’d make at least one fan very happy. I love your work and style and my players have fought and bled on a dozen of your maps. If you ever feel like a quick break from cyberpunk and knock a few of these out, that would be totally cool!

fragmaps

It's not just where the money is - it's keeping those who have been supporting me since the very beginning, happy with the monthly map releases. However, I've been known to skew my maps towards sci-fi players too but like i mentioned previously, the style must be a balance between what i currently do, and the sci-fi stuff. I try to keep both sides happy even though it's super difficult.

Metaphor Underbog

Well, you’re doing an amazing job at it, man!

fragmaps

Thank you for your encouragement and your Patreon support dude. It means a lot.

Metaphor Underbog

I’d prefer a grittier style anyway. My campaign is fairly hard sci fi, kind of like The Expanse or the Drake line of starships in Star Citizen if you’re familiar with the game. A cyberpunky feel to a starship is gold in my opinion.

fragmaps

Now see, the Expanse, is very very similar in style to the typical cyberpunk stuff. That is definitely what i lean towards.

Love it! So glad someone makes maps like this!

Really looking forward to using this map for my Cyberpunk Red campaign. I'm taking some inspiration from the Jumpstart job "Just Like Real" where the PCs are tasked to hold a 'hostage' in a corporate office building while police-in-training try to execute a raid and save the hostage. On that note, I was wondering if there was any chance of getting a variant without the furniture (couches, coffee table, desk) in the central chamber. I ask because the PCs will want to move furniture tokens/tiles around for barricades/cover, so I'd love a cleared space that I could place furniture in. If it's any hassle, no worries - love your work either way and it's a central part of my campaign. The scenes tell a story and I often manipulate the narrative a bit to fit your beautiful work. Cheers!
