Voyage of the Harmony (Patreon)

Someplace on my hard drive I have the outline for an SF pony AU in which Captain Twilight Sparkle gathers the rest of the Mane 6 to be the crew of her ship, the Harmony. It's got Nightmare Moon as the Big Bad for a lot longer than she was in series, and draws heavily from the work of Cordwainer Smith, specifically the short stories "Scanners Live In Vain" and "The Game of Cat and Dragon"; also C. S. Friedman's "This Alien Shore", which also draws from "Cat and Dragon".

I plan to write this scene in full -- the ending of it is going to be Discord talking Fluttershy into joining the crew because he doesn't want to leave her but he really really really wants to go to space -- and then publish it as part of Eating Dessert First, but here's the first section.
