Hey guys, most of this message only applies to our two highest tier patrons($20 and $35) but we figure the rest of you would like to know about this too.

We got a message from Patreon  pointing out that some of our higher tier rewards are in conflict with their user agreement. It's the chance aspect which has them squinting their eyes and making disapproving noises. We didn't realize this, but raffles are a nono and we have little choice now but to remove those incentives from our tier rewards.

You might have seen me mention the scene raffle before. Basically I said we enjoy creating a scene for a scene raffle winner, but there were some downsides too.

Winning the chance to shape a scene according to your own preferences is something I'd love to win myself and people who win them are almost always incredibly happy to hear they've won. Seeing happy people makes me happy so that wasn't the problem. Actually, we had one very unique exception where the scene winner told us we could offer his winning ticket to another patron. That had us extremely surprised!

Anyway, the downside to our raffle tickets isn't the person who has won, but all the people who haven't. Especially the patrons participating in the scene raffle whose only extra tier benefit was a chance to see their idea brought to life.

You see, When we started Mity we figured we'd get like.. at most three people for the highest tier. That was our most optimistic guess and with those kind of numbers everyone would sooner or later get their scene... but things got out of hand and we got a lot more patrons in that tier than we ever expected.

Nice right? In theory yeah, but when we see people who've been a $35 tier patron for over 7 months (or longer) and still haven't won yet, it makes us feel very uncomfortable. Uncomfortable enough to actually have done some secret extra raffle draws : )   But  we don't have an unlimited amount of energy and time so those secret extra draws didn't mean much more than a drop in the bucket.

Anyway, Patreon doesn't like the chance aspect and wants the raffles gone. I honestly can't disagree with them and I sorta feel happy they forced our hand to come up with something else and shelve the raffles.

There are people who still haven't made use of their winning ticket and to those I can say, don't worry. We'll still fulfill those. But this does mean the highest tier will lose it's added incentive compared to the $20 tier and the $20 tier will lose that little extra incentive of the sketch raffle.

We'll still want do some more patron requested scenes, but those will be non raffle related. In fact we'd like to invite the current $35 tier patrons to just send in their idea for a scene. We'll go over them and see if we can use them somehow sometime. Just think of it as a pool of inspiration for us.

We'll try to come up with some worthwhile extra's for at least the $35 tier, but we don't just want to haphazardly come up with anything right on the spot. We'll need to give this some more thought.

In the meanwhile we'll still need to  have at least something for the $35 tier as a reward if only temporarily. We decided to add a sneak peek at a scene I'm working on for a future build. Basically this means I'll show the bare bones of a scene I'm working on. I'll add that in a week or so from now. I really dislike showing stuff before it can be found in the game so I hope we can come up with something different though.

If you got any ideas which you feel would make for a nice extra incentive please pm or let us know in the comments and also change your tier level according to how you feel about these changes!

We're sorry if this update sours your day. We hope we'll have something nicer/more interesting to talk about in a next update!

Ah, I remember thinking it was weird the raffle was kept when I heard a couple years ago that chance based rewards had been banned, but it had mostly slipped my mind since then. It's a shame I never got to win during some of the months I was a $35 patron (my pledge has shifted around a lot due to varying financial circumstances, so I'd probably been cumulatively a $35 one for maybe 4-6 months at most).

Argh I should've stayed in the higher tier longer! I stayed for a few of months and then thought I could rejoin later to eventually win. But now it's gone.

How about this: Instead of making it chance based, somebody who has been in the highest tier for a certain amount of time (let's say 5 months) gets a voucher for a scene that will be added when you guys find the time. Once a certain amount of vouchers has accumulated, the tier gets closed for new members until you guys could catch up and new spots open up.

Well, to me that doesn't matter whatsoever since I'm not supporting you guys for the Raffle chances or anything like that, I support you for the sake of supporting an awesome project, nothing more, nothing less. Hope this won't change up the development much, as patreon changes tend to be crippling to content creators whenever they are implemented.

Sorry to hear about that MITY I'm sure a lot of patreons looked forward to the chance of their craziest fantasies brought to the game. The only consolation I can think of is a similar method used with another creator where instead of a raffle it's a poll. Basically make a list of scenes and options both you and your crew would like to work on as well as suggestions from your patreons and after you get at least ten to twelve solid options hold a polling vote online and see which option gets the most, and also have it that patreons who have a higher tier can have more votes to add to the polls like a patreon who has a five dollar tier can only vote once whereas a thirty five dollar tier can vote five times either for the same option or for other options they would like to see.

HankyPanky

Another suggestion: Members of the highest tier get to make a suggestion which you will put in a post on patreon and all other members can then vote each month which suggestion is picked. The downside is that the surprise is lost (unless perhaps you can make the results invisible somehow).

I second the poll idea

Shut up Mit and take my money! xD

Being allowed to submit ideas and then one is selected based on merit is okay, AFAICT. So have people send the ideas, you pick one, done deal. And if you can't decide which one you like best and use a PRNG to break the tie, well, that's fine so long as it's not written into the reward.

I like this idea only because polls usually end up with the winner being the popular characters meaning if you want your obscure waifu in you have to convince everyone or just be in the right place at the right time. Look at any artist who does polls the winner is usually the most popular characters. With Mity's team picking the scenes as long as they do not focus on popular characters could be a lot better.

I say have the highest tiers get their ideas sketched or drawn as before and have all patrons vote on a favorite. I also think MITY should consider raising tier levels from $50 to $100 for better incentives like exclusive downloads for example.

instead of doing scene by scene why not let each person in the highest tier pick a scene they want and do one each when u have time. it would get around the gambling nono. im sure people will understand if this takes awhile but its an idea .

Sorry to hear that. But be wary of Patreon's Trust & Safety Council. They are getting political with the banning of Sargon of Akkad and many others. I hope you guys stay up so try to stay under their radar. Because if the sense the tiniest slight against them even if you said or did nothing, they wont hesitate to ban you for arbitrary reasons Good luck out there

Neo

I'm not on the $35 tier, but I am fairly certain that most of them are doing that much simply because they want to. If I had the disposable income for it I definitely would be. That said, you could always set up a poll, have them submit ideas for scenes or pictures, you link them to a poll of selected ones, and they can vote on the scene chosen?

SirPiken

I would like to instead support you on another platform. I probably won't unsub but I would immediately move if you provided another means.
