Pirate Metal in steps (Patreon)

If you started a band, what genre of music would you play? The great thing about metal is it can be fused with any style. Here’s 3 steps to make pirate metal 🏴‍☠️ (full tabs below)

1. Pirate Scale

Arrrrgh, step one, use the D aeolian mode to get that pirate sound. This is the key Hans Zimmer used in Pirates Of The Caribbean 

2. Pirate Chords

Step 2 is every pirate’s favorite peg leg chord progression Dm-Bb and C. If you’re familiar with chord inversions, try playing this sequence in different areas on the fretboard to orchestrate your music 

3. Pirate Song

Step 3 is to drink some rum and make a pirate song! Combine the scale and chords to flesh out a full arrangement! Try looping the chords and improvising a melody overtop until you get something you like
