Who's interested in playing faster on guitar?

Here's a video on how I practice speed using the SHRED METHOD. The secret is to combine technique with music theory and composition for maximum benefit.

The idea is to work on songwriting while also sharpening your technique. What do you guys thing of this approach and was it helpful?

I'll break down the mechanics of speed and how you can use the metronome to play faster than ever before. It's works the same way as building muscle in the gym. By using progressive overload, you slowly add more weight over time to get stronger. With speed, you gradually increase metronome settings. Over time, the small muscles and fibers in your hands and arms acclimatize to faster and faster tempos.

Speed Practice For PROS | Songwriters Approach

Ever wanted to get faster on guitar? I'm gonna show you how the pros work on Speed. As a bonus, we'll also make music for your Songwriting goals. To get faster, you have to have a plan. You don't just magically increase your speed without a strategy. Using my SHRED METHOD, I'll break down the mechanics of speed and how you can use the metronome to play faster than ever before. It's works the same way as building muscle in the gym. By using progressive overload, you slowly add more weight over time to get stronger. With speed, you gradually increase metronome settings. Over time, the small muscles and fibers in your hands and arms acclimatize to faster and faster tempos. I've written a neoclassical exercise using a range of techniques to simultaneously work on legato, hybrid picking, string skipping and more. It's a short piece of music you could develop into a full song. The secret is to always practice something musical. Don't waste time on meaningless chromatic exercises you can't use in actual songs. By feeding your soul with something that sounds good, you'll be inspired to practice and the speed will come naturally. I got kicked out of my first band and could never figure out how to play guitar like the gods. My next door neighbor was so fed up with my guitar playing, she gave me a book on how to play for beginners. I'd been playing for 4 years already! I finally went to music school to get my act together. That's where I learned to practice and develop my musicianship. My life changed forever and suddenly I could solo over chords and rip killer licks while jamming with others. Becoming a better guitarist and musician doesn't happen by accident though.
