This week I experimented with working on whatever I felt like. Rather than try to pull this into a focused post, I'll just list all the different things I did.


TLS 0.51.0 Design: I reviewed notes and did some prep. Now I have a pretty clear idea what main/side content the update will cover. This will be my next major priority.

TLS Report Backlog: Okay, I didn't want to do this one, but it was overdue. I went through a long list of low priority reports and made assorted tweaks to the game.

OEA Scene Writing: This one was pure fun, writing out sex scenes from the art that has accumulated over the past months. Barring potential variant scenes, every single OEA scene is now written. 32 total. This wasn't a major barrier to release, but I enjoyed it.

OEA Chibi Integration: There are still several chibi scenes not yet drawn, but I used placeholders so that all chibi art is now fully integrated into the game. Another element of OEA finished. I don't want to work more on this until I'm in a position to wrap up the whole game, though, as it will take a while to refamiliarize myself with minor details. 

Set Art Balls Rolling: Since artists can take months to finish chunks of work, I never like to have them waiting on me. I took a while to give out info on a number of things, and of course TLS artwork with Annikath is always ongoing.

OEA UI: I didn't intend to work on this, but it rolled out of the previous one. I thought I'd spend a short time giving an artist information on the UI, but what they suggested was a re-skin that I didn't think would look distinctive. This led me to look into all the new plugins that have been created since I first set the game up... almost three years ago. Dang, hadn't realized it was three years. Anyway, I ended up doing most of this myself. The game now has main menus that look less standard RPG Maker.

Old Project: I dusted off a side project I tabled a couple years ago. Admittedly, this is not really helpful for clearing my plate, but it would be fun to actually see this work go somewhere eventually.

r/fantasy Panel: As mentioned, I participated in the fantasy panel. Link here if you missed it. This was numerically the most successful of the panels and I think I put in a decent appearance, so that's good. Didn't really move the needle except driving a decent number of TBS sales.

SC History: The Street Cultivation universe has an odd alternate history I've always intended to flesh out from my personal notes to something that's easily readable. I felt like doing this, so I did. It will be a bonus appendix... sometime.


Anyway... I'm more tired than I hoped, but I did succeed in moving forward some stuff I felt like I was neglecting. Hopefully next week I will be focused on a primary task.

So you know what you are going to add for TLS 51.0? Looking forward to seeing what it is. Of course no one would begrudge you sharing a few details about it. Btw what exactly did you talk about at your panel? How did it go?

We have an explanation for Saphartlantis' "you can fill Yarra Sp bar with a mana potion" bug. In the first place, he apparently meant to type "you can fill Yarra's MP bar with a mana potion". He doesn't have Yarra equipped with an SP preserver so her SP always starts at 10 in every battle. What he has done is equipped Yarra with a Lodestone Hat, which increases her Max MP from 0 to 50. He appears to have cheated the equipment into existence at some point during the IK's Castle Dungeon, then noticed Yarra had 0 of 50 MP for the first time during the aftermath conversations at war HQ and used a mana potion on her. Although this behavior is mildly eccentric (to say the least), there's nothing stopping any player who can afford the items in question from equipping Yarra with a Lodestone Hat, Dwarven Robes, or the Goddess of Magic Pin, all of which add to MMP. It's theoretically possible for Nalili to be affected similarly, but there don't appear to be any weapons or armors that she can equip which add MMP. There's a couple ways of addressing the issue. 1.) Ignore it. 2.) Change the armor type of the above listed armors to Anti-Sex Magic or Anti-Sex Accessory if you don't mind Riala being barred from using them. 3.) Create new armor types that are basically "Magic No Yarra" and "Accessory No Yarra". 4.) If it's possible to create a state that isn't cleared by resting, do something like Vhala's Equip Lock but with the effect parameter MMP * 0 and stick it on Yarra and Nalili permanently. 5.) Some complex scripting jiggery pokery of equipment that adds MMP so it doesn't apply to Yarra and Nalili.

6) Give Yarra (and Nalili) an actor or class feature of MMP * 0%, which would be simple and easy and solve the problem without future effort.

What I learned from the Reddit panel is that SL is an inveterate planner. But seriously, there were some interesting discussions. Are plans not quite firm enough to reveal what main/side content the TLS update will cover, or what side project you dusted off? Adding any new features to OEA due to the availability of new scripts? Has any of your old wishlist for it been filled?

Well for TLS Sierra was going to give the big Eustrin update but since that will be variable locked she is going to add other content as well. The questions are how will the Eustrin update play out and what other content she will add.

I'm curious whether there will be further consequences for the Tanurak strikes in 51.0, or more occasions to use the Incubus King equipment. Or an explanation as to how they prevented him from striking more locations.

Or maybe get the 5th and final piece of the incubus king armor set.

Imma gonna stick my head in and inquire about some dangling plot threads. WAY back in the Ardan Succession Crisis we had the option to tell Mestan to plausibly fake an assassination attempt on Bhakan (and implicitly copy his guard to facilitate this). Mestan has since buggered off to Thenours and gotten majorly freaked by Lilith. Whatever happened to the assassination attempt? When we first reunited with Wendis, we had a Tower dungeon where we were supposed to either eventually get a True Stone OR (if you already had one), Wendis said she could use the Tower mine to "acquire some materials useful to you". Been a while since then too...

The Wendis dungeon is slated to bear fruit very soon - it will actually be available a bit retroactively, but I left it aside as a loose end. I didn't have any plans for the Mestan part, however. It's just a ploy that occurs in the background to influence the succession.
