Hope Neranda isn't the only potential inductee to come next update, although I look forward to at least having her axe. All dwarves come with axes right?

There are a couple characters who, like Janine, will be able to join based on your decisions. Their times will finally come soon, though I can't promise next update.

Out of curiosity, what does the second spider-nerf entail?

I'm still stuck at the start of the update, the dwarf guarding the tunels won't let me go past him. I've spoken to Neranda and everyone in Eustrin and I cleared the tower up to the point Riala says we should investigate further. Any idea ?

There are two dead ends in the Tower where Riala comments. You need to have seen the one where you actually bring Neranda into the Tower, not just the one on the far east edge of the map.

Just as a funny aside, the version number on the client and the download are different (client says 48.1, download says 48.2). I'm fairly sure the new version is linked since I'm seeing the described debuff resistance nerfs. I'm running the Nightmare fight some more, and as of the latest patch it seems pretty achievable to win 100% of the time with the Simon Hilstara Vhala Carina team I commented about last time. I'll be looking at other teams soon, but it's at the point where proper prep always succeeds at least.

Update: A glass cannon team works pretty well now assuming Vhala can get a defensive rain off at first. I ran Riala and Robin and just fireblasted the spiders into the ground. If there's a team that doesn't work, it doesn't have Vhala on it, probably. This is a well equipped and trained file, but honestly the damage might be a little low outside Dwarf Killer which still often oneshots. A small bump would hit some specific breakpoints where if the player is lax about debuffing later in the fight, something might still happen to turn the tides. Specifically I'm thinking of Carina, who could potentially die in 2 hits without the benefit of debuffs, or 1 from dwarfkiller, with just a tiny bit more damage. 5% would do it I think. Edit: Update 2: Vhala can carry Nalili and Yarra to a win with good equipment. First try. I can't think of teammates offhand that would be worse for this fight, which probably means Vhala can carry with anyone. I did have to use revival goo though.

/late: 0.48.2 is looking good. The extra Neranda moments are a good mix of humour and earthy seriousness. The spider combat balance feels better - less RNG-sensitive, but they can still hit very hard. The boss fight took a bit of reviving in the first few rounds, but it was much easier to get it under control with buffs/debuffs. I'd almost say that the debuff resistance could be increased a fraction to make Vhala have to work a little harder for her dominance, but I'm maybe speaking too much from the position of someone who's replayed this fight over and over. Minor typo - forgot to get a screenshot, sorry. When all spiders are exterminated to trigger the boss mob appearing, Riala says "There are more Dwaregasts to the south", but the plural has been "Dwaregast" elsewhere.

So I just got done testing the optional combat and was able to clear a hard pack with no restarts and the boss pack with only 2 restarts with Vhala/Nalili/Hilstara as my party. Much better than being pigeon holed into using Hilstara or Carina and Qum/Robin and praying that the boss doesn't randomly decide to ORKO Simon from full hp after it's down to a third hp which happened on my initial clear in 48.0 multiple times. I am biased though as the original three are my go to against any physical enemy that isn't immune to anything but elemental magic, giving Nalili the upgraded armor and a mammoth shield is something I am unsure anyone but me does. I appreciate Tertia as a more compelling take on the unfathomably ancient character. It contrasts with how in Warcraft Tyrande, Malfurion, Maiev, and Illidan are all supposed to be 10,000 years old but that barely effects their characters at all besides making them all, except Illidan, leaders of institutions that have somehow persisted with little change for that long. Tertia's weariness and terseness in the initial dialogue is both funny and sad. The interaction with Neranda was great, really gave a sense of why she felt compelled to find solitude. Her ridiculing Simon's benevolence and the patterns of Incubus Kings was hysterical, some of the lines in particular "all the horrors of motherhood" really didn't see that coming. Her design is nice, the asymmetry of her dress and ornamentation along her arms is interesting, and the scene was good though I'm not a tit guy so more than anything I hope we get different scenes with her. Her explanations at the end were very interesting, how many times there have been unified holders, alliances, and benevolent tyrants and they all come to nought. It again hammers home why she would be apathetic after being unable to fundamentally effect such an ancient and repetitive history. The deepwilds music is the perfect track for this, makes sense that a goddess of the wild would eventually want to find an end just as all nature does, and that Tertia as a manifestation of the earth wouldn't.

Thanks for all your feedback! I wasn't sure what people would think of Tertia, so I'm glad that the response has been positive. ^-^
