Content

As most of you are probably aware, I run several youtube channels. Currently, my three main active ones are: Digibro, where I post the main content that usually gets marked for patronage on here; my Digibro After Dark channel, which I use for stuff that doesn't fit on the main channel; and Digi Bros, which is a let's play show that I do every day with my little brother.

For as long as I've had a patreon, I've always struggled with making decisions about which things that I've made are "worth" posting on patreon. It's really up to my own discretion, but I always want to be sure that my patrons are paying for something that's worth their money, and that you won't be paying for something which you didn't want in the first place. It's always been tricky because different people are interested in different things, and sometimes a vlog about a broad topic can be better-received than a heavily-edited video about an unpopular show. I've just been going by what feels right to me all this time, and justifying not patroning most of my work by whatever ad revenue I can get from it.

Since the Digi Bros channel has never really gotten popular, even though I personally find it strangely fulfilling, I've always figured it's out of the question to mark. However, in the last month I've been posting a ton of vlogs to my Digibro After Dark channel, which have gotten a really warm response. Not only have there been people asking me if I could mark them on patreon somehow, but I even gained a number of patrons just by way of these vlogs. A lot of people have been calling my vlog channel the "real main channel," and some of the content which I've been posting there has been more interesting than the heavily edited content on my main channel, even to me.

Now of course, I still don't think that these vlogs are worth patroning individually, no matter how good I've gotten at making them, or how interesting or entertaining they might be. That's why I'm patron marking the entire month's worth of vlogs all in one post. I think it would be nearly impossible for any one person to find absolutely nothing of interest in all of these posts--in fact, if you're a fan of my style of analysis, then there should be plenty to love across the board.

If the response to marking this turns out to be really negative or I lose a bunch of patrons from it, then I'll never do it again. However, if everyone is really super open to this, and if I keep making the crazy amount of good vlogs that I've been making, then I might consider marking a batch of them again in the future. Lemme know what you think!

But, I've seen them all already! Great content, quite entertaining and informative. Keep it up! Maybe try to get less worked up over half naked anime girls. :3 Though this was one of the most entertaining vlogs.

Pretty great idea! I'd definitely agree that quite a few of those vlogs were worth placing on patreon. Hell if you're gonna keep up with the vlogs at even half the pace you did this month then I'd definitely consider raising my pledge for all the extra content you've been pumping out! Keep at it man. :D

This many vlogs is most definitely worth putting up for patronage! Thanks for all the content- having digibros and vlog each day has been awesome! Keep up the good work, hope to see more vlogs in the future.

For the hours of entertainment this gives, it's totally worth it. It doesn't have to be 20 or so vlogs either, whatever you think is worth the same amount is fine. Keep up the good work, and thanks for making the vids! Also, do you have a separate place you'd like us to send you video analyses we make (assuming I ever get around to making one)? Your call to action has got me interested in giving some anime a closer look, and idk if you check your YouTube inbox.

digibro

Patreon messages and my reddit board (r/digibro) are the best ways to get me to see something.

Shawn Smith

So to clarify, you're going to be posting all the vlogs you do each month to Patreon, and all of it will be a single charge to the Patrons?

digibro

If I keep doing vlogs like this, then maybe. I don't even know if I'll ever mark them again, but this month there was so much good material that it was harder to justify not marking them.

I totally support this content and delivery method on Patreon. I definitely tweeted my support for the idea and that was back when I thought it'd be a new reward tier or something. So getting 20 vids as a single entry is damn worth it. I think if you can even maintain 5-10 vlogs a month going forward, then that'd be worth the Patronage.

In a related outreach idea, have you thought about doing comment response style vlogs? It might be a good medium to build dialogue and for us fans that you inspire to analysis to channel our thoughts. It's an idea at least.

Sounds like a pretty good compromise to me!

Ennokos

I support this as well, I wish I had more time to watch more of these.

General Winter

i have an idea, you should make a separate patron for your vlogs since the people that enjoy your vlogs might not be the same as those who watch your main channel and leave no rewards for it so people can value your vlogs to their liking

digibro

There's a lot of logistics issues that come with trying to make 2 patreon accounts, such as not being able to tie 2 to the same bank account. It also would mean that the two are in competition with one-another. Most of the people who would patron my vlogs already patron my main content, and would have to split their spending between the two. It would just needlessly complicate matters.

Totally fine with me, I definitely liked the vlogs. I can imagine it would be difficult to find the line of what is worth patroning, but I'd be fine with paying for more vlogs in the future.

Maybe you should just put up a general single-use donation button on the blog channel. I know channels like SuperBunnyHop allow you to make single donations. Of course, you may want to keep track of the numbers before/after implementation to make sure the main channel Patreon and vlog channel aren't cannibalizing each other.

Boy, this many incredibly interesting vlogs which kept me entertained for hours for the modest price of a single video? I think it's impossible to get better value out of my money out of anything on this entire Earth. I wish you would continue to make as many vlogs as you feel inspired to. They were a great source of both inspiration and entertainment to me. Please continue to make the edited videos as well, as they are a great source of entertainment.

i love all the vlogs i'll pay for more if i can get more.
