Oh yes you do know the context for that ending part of the intro. You just have to think back to the end of season 1, that's where the spinning orb of death showed up, and the blindfolded figure with it... Triggering any memories with that?

YES!! Speaking of things linked in, They did an amazing Miniseries called Calamity. It was run by Brennan Lee Mulligan, so it would be a great tie in for your expanding universe. It was run AFTER campaign 2, but set WAAYYYYYY back in history during that calamity mentioned in season 2. What's even cooler, is that this episode already made a reference to something from Calamity! I *HIGHLY* recommend that miniseries as one of the best things they ever did. It's 4 episodes, that run 4-6 hours each. So I don't know when you'd fit it in your schedule, but it's amazeballs. :-)

is episode 3 coming today as well? thanks for the great reactions! feels like a homecoming.

Many Critters were surprised when the search for the Vestige took Vox Machina to Michigan.

BTW, im sad your skipping the credit songs especially this one considering its Matt Mercer singing!

I just read today that apparently in the scene with Grog and the two kids, the little girl was voiced by Laura Bailey and the little boy was voiced by her and Travis's 5 year old son. Their family did a voice acting scene together! I'm not crying, you're crying! 😭

man i wish i didnt but.....i get scanlan, its played for the comedy and all, but ive been there, when you feel like you arent a good person when it comes down to it, you feel like theres no way that you can manage a proper conversation with someone that you REALLY want to like you, so you go to what youve trained yourself to believe makes you more likeable, more open, more fun, forgetting what mightve made that person like you in the first place was just you being you, but people like...scanlan feel like the "real" them is an act, a facade, a falsehood that theyll see through eventually, do you keep diving into that pool deeper and deeper trying to shut out the doubt and fear. I dont even know if it was intended to or if i just really project, but especially after scanlans episode in s2 about wanting true love but always screwing it up, this episode had a much harder pull on my heart than i think it shouldve. mans just gotta work on believing that he isnt actually fooling everyone around him, but lying to himself, hes worthy, hes amazing, hes courageous, and he'd be a great father and a great partner if he can learn to heal and love himself first well...this turned into an long rant i didnt plan, woops

Howdy. If you have a moment the song at the end called "Ruby of the Sea". That's a reference to a character in campaign 2. But what's fun is the song is sung by Matthew Mercer himself. That dude has a great voice.

Matt Mercer’s song during the end credits pretty catchy

Came here to say this. ExU Calamity is a great way to get the full experience of watching a game without trying to dive into the full campaign. And the reference will have a lot more meaning after watching Calamity.

Ripley had 2 "vestiges". The fake armor she stole, and the real cloak she was wearing. The cloak gave her speed, teleportation, invisibility, and the ability to absorb and redirect magic. I assume she wanted to combine that last ability with the armor's ability to create some kind of assembly line. It wasn't clear to me either. Also (spoiler for next episode, but I know you've seen it) we see Scanlan and Percy have Courage next episode. 😉 "Bells Hells" is part of Critical Role, but not related to what is going on here. It's part of their current campaign (campaign 3). Vox Machina is their first campaign. Their second campaign, following another team, is getting its own animated series next year (probably - they released an animatic when they released the trailer for this season).

A couple Easter Eggs: "Taste of Tal'Dorei" is the name of a restaurant chain in their world. It's similar to Medieval Times, Planet Hollywood, and similar theme restaurants. The birdhouse we see on the same shelf has a name, Pock'o'pea, carved into it. A reference to something from campaign 3. The head next to those items is a reference to a figure we meet in campaign 3. And the large stein Scanlan is holding when he and Kaylee come out of the bar is actually based on a stein Sam had back in campaign one. I believe a fan sent it to him. It was oversized to represent how oversized a regular stein would be for Scanlan. It's a bit Sam has continued through all 3 campaigns, as he has chosen to play small characters in all 3.

Scanlan’s “Objection!” is something of an in-joke, as it is the catchphrase of Phoenix Wright, another character whom Sam Riegel has voiced.

During the live launch party they requested it and this is amazing: https://youtube.com/shorts/TAzJKw0_eOw?si=7ldWzMjNX_h49ogo

I still don’t know why people like Scanlan I think he is a gross person.

Linus Marjeta

To each their own, I mean, Sam Riegel created Scanlan based off of the stereotypical bard that sexualises everything and is just unhinged, but later on gave him immense depth, showing that all that "gross" stuff is just a front to cover his feelings and have people not take him seriously so he could flee from whatever troubled him. In many ways I find him very relateable, even if his character puts those relateable things into their extremes. His song for the Sphinx in Season 2 was just mindblowingly amazing.
