My favorite character on the show finally makes his grand entrance. And yes, I’m talking about Scorpius. 😜 Actually, not only is he my favorite character on Farscape, he’s my favorite science fiction character of all time(explaining why would require spoilers, so…).

Scorpius is the main villan and just like darth vader once you get to know why he is the way he is you cant help but feel sympathy for him its some great writting

Notes from a Farscape fan: 1) You picking out Scorpius with the phrase 'If this is the character you were excited for me to see, then hmmm' - I refer you to my previous comment of, You Don't Even Know. 2) Moya having contractions in this episode. It's a commonly known fact that if a character is pregnant, they MUST go into labour at the worst possible moment, and that does not exclude giant, living spaceships. 3) The D'Argo/Aeryn siblings-in-arms stuff this episode is another stark highlighting of what this show does best - every character has a deep and meaningful relationship with every other character. Crichton is our audience surrogate, our 'main character', but the D'Argo/Aeryn dynamic is just as interesting and moving and important as the D'Argo/Crichton and Aeryn/Crichton dynamics. 4) The emphasis of Aeryn as a warrior in this episode was also very good and particularly at a time when 'strong female characters' usually either fell into the 'emotionally strong' category (Zhaan) or the 'sexually liberated' category (Chiana) - Farscape highlighted that a strong female character can also just be...you know, a punchy badass? As much as I do enjoy Buffy and River, two other punchy, strong women, Whedon's 'strong female characters' always had this kind of icky feeling of 'woman put on a pedastal by a man', if that makes sense? Aeryn reminds me more of Klingon women. Very Warrior's Code. It's nice to see. 5) Your Freudian slip at the end there. Pretty sure a Gallina/Crais/Aeryn love triangle is so contrary to good taste that it couldn't even exist in the darkest depths of Internet fan fiction. It made me laugh, and a little bit sick. #farscapeedging #suckingonrygelsgas

Scorpius is a very different villain to Crais. The calmness and the unshakeable authority is in clear contrast to how Crais has unravelled over the course of the season - he's now unshaven, unkempt and clearly hanging on by a thread. Scorpius is definitely unnerving because he seems eternally patient and meticulous - if it takes him years to get the information he wants, it takes him years. The twist of the aliens depositing wormhole technology into John's head was very well done. Something Scorpius immediately latched onto as valuable information. I'd only watched the show sporadically up to this episode, and felt like I could take it or leave it (I missed most of the best episodes and only caught the slightly ropey ones). But this episode made it must-watch television for me. Seeing how the John/Aeryn relationship had progressed, seeing how D'Argo had grown and Chiana being added to the crew for some slinky sexiness and mischief (with surprising loyalty to her new shipmates). Claudia Black's acting in this episode is so good. Portraying Aeryn at her most stoic but there's always something in her eyes that's saying she really wants to live, she really wants to accept comfort and hope, but she can't let herself believe it.

"It's your girl!" "The other girl!" "Shit!" Classic. This is not my favorite episode, though I love it a lot, but one thing I really enjoy about it is the way it puts beginning of Season 1 and end of Season 1 John into contrast with each other. It starts with his affect in the beginning where he's subtly threatening Rigel to back him up and just ice cold desperate. But then we get to see the difference on screen through Aurora Chair glimpses. And of course a major side-by-side is the sweet, almost meek, brilliant, instantly-crushing-on-him tech he fell for when he was new and lost and lonely, versus the strong, abrasive, badass, still repressed warrior he has silently fallen for after months of danger, death, and mutual need and support. It's beautiful writing and tragic to watch.

Your Trek is showing. This show will always surprise you and completely destroy your first impressions. Let 'em go. This show became infamous for blurring the lines of a traditional good vs evil structure while throwing out normal trope structures. There will come points where you will absolutely hate your favorite characters and shed tears for those you've hated from their first introductions. Welcome to the grey. This ride is gonna be messy. Chiana tries her "sexy" wiles to no avail with John just to bug him. She sees how others, like Rygel or peacekeeper #8, view her and she uses it as a tool for distraction or dominance. She can't get a rise out of John, knows she's in the friend zone and just trying to make him uncomfortable to no avail for kicks. This episode introduces you to the danger that has unknowingly been put into John's head. Glad you realized that it's a weapon, you're on the right track. Things have become way bigger. Scorpy, yes that's what we all call him, is who we all were waiting for. The show truly became something more when he was introduced. It becomes even more the further into the series you get. Scorpy will grow on you and really live rent free in your head soon enough.

The guest star credit roll this episode is such an embarrassment of riches. Lani, Wayne, Gigi, Alyssa Jane Cook, and Paul Goddard? We were feasting. I loved how this show would introduce a new guest actor/character, saw how well it worked, and just folded them into the recurring cast.

Yes, your little whispies do look much better than Crais's. This is the perfect symbolism for the difference between Crais and Scorpius. As Crais has lost control over himself and the situation over the course of the season, his physical appearance has deteriorated along with it. But even with only one episode we see that whatever else you want to say about Scorpius, you cannot put "lost control" in there.

I always thought it was a damn shame they didn’t bring Wayne back to play Tarkin in Rogue One. Way before Revenge of the Sith came out, a ton of us on theforce.net forums were already fancasting Wayne to play the young Tarkin if he were to show up in the film. Imagine our shock when it actually happened.
