I will say the most agreed-upon thing is we all love victorian Clara and wish she was the main companion, the Clara we get is great but I do wish we had this one as the main one I do love the cast here so much, the small groups of 3 are amazing and they do have some audiobooks (big finish) For me, this is a personal favorite of mine from the cast, plot, all the new stuff, intro to maybe my favorite tardis The real-world reason for new tardis is was they moved studios

I have no name

She was Jenna Louise Coleman but dropped The Middle name and started going by Jenna Coleman professionally just when Peter Capaldi was starting

Just finished the full length reaction and about to watch the discussion, but since you didn't say anything in FL about this: the Great Intelligence is voiced by Sir Ian Mckellen! edit: whoops you did notice that, should've never doubted you 👑

I agree that Victorian Clara has the best introduction, and that it sucks how the modern show can't seem to do one companion that isn't from modern day earth, but I think the Clara we get and the dynamic she has with the doctor is much better than what we could have gotten with Victorian Clara

Watching through the discussion now and just adding thoughts in this comment as I watch. In regards to a spin-off featuring Strax, Vasta, and Jenny - you're in luck, actually! There is actually a spin-off Big Finish series focusing on them called The Paternoster Gang and features all three original actors reprising their roles for the voices. In case you aren't aware, Big Finish does a bunch of Doctor Who audio stories/dramas and some of its content is very highly regarded by the fandom. Most of the Eighth Doctor's stories come from there, River Song has her own series, etc. I'm not sure when is a good time to look up and listen to the series though, but they're great listening material if you want supplementary Doctor Who content with fantastic production value & the original actors often voice their characters (also VERY cheap on the website). The easiest way to get into them is to start with the Eighth Doctor stuff after watching the TV movie. Big Finish is HIS land. Great to hear you enjoyed this episode! It really is one of my favourites because of the reasons you mentioned. It just makes me feel warm inside, big comfort episode for sure. Jenna Coleman's ability to match with Matt Smith and their immediate chemistry together makes this pair a joy to watch. Moffat said Jenna was hired because she, somehow, could talk faster than Matt (and the best example of this being that rooftop scene). I mean, we knew she and Matt could have insane banter when they weren't even in the same room together because of Asylum of the Daleks, but now we're seeing that in full force. (plus Jenna is very VERY cute) As for Clara herself, I love her. So. Much. As you've said, she's very assertive, especially with the Doctor, which makes for a GREAT duo. She's also exactly what he needed after Amy and Rory's departure - she's curious, challenges him, takes charge and PUSHES him into that adventure again. Even though he's searching for her again now, it was because of her and the reminder of Pond that got him back on his feet. And, final thing: the new TARDIS interior rules.

Clara is my favorite companion so i have been really excited for you to get here!! Victorian Clara is certainly fantastic and i love how well Matt and Jenna play off each other. Looking forward to you falling for Jenna as much as i have!

The main reasons they didn't do a spin-off of our trio in London is because budgets were tightening, and Vastra's scales are rather expensive. It's done with a practical mask combined with make-up to blend it together, and they have to do it every time they film her character. They actually reused an actress from the season 5 episodes with Silurians.
