“There, that wasn’t so hard now was it,” Ariana said to Alice, happy to see that she had come to her senses.

“As your father said, you do look quite lovely. I’m sure that everyone else will think the same.”

“Wait, what do you mean by that?” Alice asked confused by what she meant.

“Well, there was no way that we were going to celebrate your adoption papers being fully signed off as well as your first birthday as a member of the Rhodes family, without inviting all of our relatives.”

“Birthday?” Alice asked. Her birthday wasn’t for several more months. Why are they celebrating it now? And what relatives was she talking about.

As if on cue more people began to enter the room. Each one of them were a member of the Rhodes family. They were all very excited to meet Alice.

“As the guest of honor, it is your duty to great them all,” said Ariana. “Don’t worry I’ll be with you the whole time to make sure that you don’t get too nervous.”

“Fine,” Alice said back to her. While she wasn’t happy that she had to listen to Ariana she knew that this would be a good chance to get back at Ariana for what she tried to do to her.

As the party went on Alice and Ariana greeted as many guests as they could. Alice would constantly make mistakes to make Ariana mad. Her new relatives were shocked to see that there was someone that was strong willed enough to fight back against her.

Though even while doing that Alice made sure to greet her new family properly. Each member of the Rhodes family enjoyed talking to Alice almost as she enjoyed talking to them.

One of her new uncles was a supplier of the sandwiches that they served at Duel Academy and told her the secret to get the golden eggwich.

One of her new aunts worked as a clothing designer and already had a bunch of clothes designed for Alice to wear. While she was grateful for the offer, she turned it down, but while she wasn’t looking Ariana gave her the okay to send them.

They may be having a bit of a rough patch right now, but there was still the rest of the summer for them to get to know each other. Ariana still had hopes that her plan would work. All it would take is a bit more time.

“Alice please at with your mouth closed,” Ariana said to Alice who was already taking part in some of the appetizers laid out.

“Or what, are you going to try and brainwash me to do that too?” Alice said, not holding back her anger as she did. Ashe felt used and had every right to feel that way. Ariana would have to try her best if she would ever be able to get Alice’s trust back.

“That won’t be necessary,” said Ariana, who actually felt a bit her by her daughter's hateful tone. Perhaps her plan was flawed to begin with.

“And why’s that?”

“That’s because I don’t believe that it will be necessary. You are a fine girl just the way you are. While you do lack refinement, we can fix that in time. As for calling my methods brainwashing, I do believe that you are a bit misled.”

“My intent was to help you become accustomed to your body. Lingering attachments of when you were a male would only hinder your progress. You do have to admit that you liked dressing up in the clothes I gave you, subliminal messaging or not. You like it I know you did. You can’t hide your true feelings from me. I am your mother after all.”
