There’s a lot of mystery along with this backstory. Whatever Oden and Roger found at Laugh Tale was able to prophesize that somebody was soon coming to make great change in the world. Also in Toki‘s final speech at the end states “9 shadows will bring the dawn”. Everyone believes it’s meant for Oden’s retainers, but in actuality it is meant to be the Straw Hat Pirates who will soon bring the dawn.

But there are Ten strawhats, unless we don't count Jinbei since he's not there, but that's kinda rude. I get what you mean, but the crew count disagrees. It sounds more like 9 shadows (Akazaya) will bring the dawn (Strawhats). It makes more sense that way.

Lad, Kaido was already a tough son of a bitch before smacking Toki. Remember lad, Kaido, a villain, doesn't give a flying Fock if Toki was a girl. She was in his way of his true target, momo, and simply removed that target. Lad, I know we don't like seeing girls getting smacked, you and me are the same in that regard, but it will happen in anime over and over again. I even reacted the same way when I first saw this episode. I was like "was that really necessary Kaido? Just move her out of the way, you won already." You're very chivalrous in that regard. Again not trying to go against your values and beliefs

RIP Kozuki Toki, mother of Momonosuke & Hiyori, wife of Shogun Kozuki Oden, and the one who lit the spark for the dawn's coming. And now her voyage is ended. I felt especially bad for Hiyori, she knows her father died, her brother is 20 years in the future, and she & Kawamatsu knew Toki was going to die. That she endured this long is remarkable. Her speech reminds me of this song from Dragon Age Inquisition. Edited the lyrics a little to fit Momonosuke. What the hell did Oden see on Laugh Tale to make him so certain that 20 years was the time it would take. Even Roger said it too "we were too early". It's probably the biggest direct hint we have had to what One Piece actually is, and it only raised more questions.
