When you saw text but No speech in that episode the only thing I can think of is maybe those lines were in the Japanese sub and the person who does the subtitles wrote it down in the episode and then when they went to dub it they muted those lines from the characters and didn't add any dub lines. Just a theory

Now this is where we run into a lot of filler. From this point to the next canon arc it's just like a chapter away, I think. The thing is this filler is so good it improves the story of the manga. A filler episode in this little section in the story actually improves the upcoming arc and I love it. There's that and the fact that I love seeing Goku's adventures as a kid, so I hope there was no plans to skip this stuff because I think it would be a shame if Curtis or anyone watching alongside him missed the fun of these little arcs.
