I personally believe that Light actually was sorry and regretful about his actions now knowing this is the end result. I know it’s easy to find satisfaction in his downfall but I believe that the feeling most felt is a feeling sorry for a character who could’ve partnered up with L and had a family with misa and hunting down the bad guys like when Light lost his memories. But the sad reality is that you can’t take back those actions and this is the route chosen for him and there’s no turning back. So for me it’s a tragic downfall of someone who could’ve lead a more fufilling and wholesome life but didin’t. Anyway, great watching this series with you Curtis! :)

I really dislike the way Light got caught. He should've lost due to his own incompetence, not someone else's. Also, I found it rather ridiculous that the one guy was able to perfectly copy someone else's handwriting in a single night. Yeah sure, Light, L, Near, and Mello were all geniuses, but they were supposed to be. 2, possibly 3, of them were groomed and selected for their intellect, and Light proved his many times, including by being one of the smartest college students in the country. But then this guy comes out of nowhere and can apparently perfectly copy someone's handwriting and their actual writing, all in one night. K.

Wishmaker007

I also believe more that Kira lost than Near won just because I feel that Light should’ve had back up plans or an ace up his sleeve in case things went wrong like telling mikami to grab 1 blank death note page at the back and replace it with a fake and to stuff it in a regular notebook or a book or anywhere so that the notebooks become meaningless and only that page matters like Light’s note in the watch but this is still a great conclusion but as with everything, I personally believe it could’ve been improved just slightly better for Near to win in a better way.

L would be proud of Matsuda, the one who shot Kira

Matthew Moore

Light dying in the middle of the stairs is a reference of neither going to Heaven or Hell. Though in the manga it was said that Heaven and Hell don’t exist in the Death Note Universe and that going to nothingness is simply the standard for everyone.

Anonymous

It is a bit far fetched, but the plot needed Light to lose, one way or a another, it was gonna be a bit of a asspull, but I didn't mind so much

Morgan

Ahhh it's over! While I enjoyed the first part of the series the most, these last few episodes were top tier. I really like Near, I think he's a cool dude. ALSO! It's never revealed in the anime or manga like Near and Mello's names were, but in a guidebook for the series, L's real name is revealed to be L Lawliet (pronounced low-light). Thanks for reacting to the series! I'd say this is definitely in my top 3 anime.

Morgan

I always loved Matsuda, but that moment secured his spot as one of my top 3 fave characters in the show. It was so satisfying.

ChubbyDuckling2

Love seeing an ending to a show but always hate that there's no more episodes to watch. Glad you enjoyed it, it was a fun ride while it lasted. Something you should really check out or react to if you prefer, is a scene called "L's Funeral", I'll link it if you're interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1pBEJAZ4Vc

Was light laying on the stairs L was drying his feet ?

grimmjow

Curtis, you should know when misa was on that tower at the end credit it was to commit suicide, she's dead too

Anonymous

Like if you think he should watch the OVA. When Ryuk talks to the other Shinigami 😉

Freddy Jimenez

In the manga special feature its said that she actually commit suicide months later on February 14

SpazBoysComedy

Hmm, that's interesting... When i saw her up there, I was wondering for a moment if she wasn't going to just gently allow herself to fall off. Damn, that adds even more tragedy to the story!

Miklar Sihn

There is the theory that those who pick up a death note become shinigami. That one has been going since the series first ended.

DarkRaven

I feel like if curtis reacted to the netflix parody opening of death note it would almost feel depressing considering where the series is now.\

Anonymous

Just for fun, here are some numbers. Over the course of the series Light personally killed, 326,218 people. He manipulated Mikami into killing 2,380,092 people. Thats a crazy amount!

TheMilkalator

hopefully Naoki Urasawa's monster and psycho pass are nominated in the future they are series that are both good rivals in the physiological genre to death note

fdEA

Berserk anyone? Yes?

Josh

Monster is an absolutely amazing anime. I don’t think it will ever be nominated though, since it’s not as well known as the mainstream anime.

Brother E

Wow! We actually finished Death Note. So that means we cleared all the plans series for the $1. Holy shit time flies! Now it’s a open ball field to decide what comes next after Mob Psycho 100.

Easily one of my favourites, having read the entire manga aswell, I'd fill with excitement if Curtis reacted to it

This ending is good but I do wish they'd have used the manga ending. So in the manga after Light gets shot he starts calling out for different people to kill them from misa to news girl and the other characters keep telling him their either dead or somewhere else. when he calls to Teru instead of killing himself he berates Light saying he was a fool to have believed in him and that light was not God. Light then starts crawling around screaming for someone to help him/kill the others. And that's when he gets to Ryuk. When light crawls to ryuk he begs and pleads with him telling Ryuk that he had to help him kill the other and he was light's last hope. Ryuk pauses then pulls out his deathnote and goes "Ok i'll write." The others plead with Ryuk and a few shoot at him but it doesn't work Light's confidence returnsd and he declares victory aagin but the ryuk calmly tells Light he was writing his name in the notebook. Light freaks out and even tries to jump ryuk but it's all in vain. He passes through ryuk and before he can make a second pass he dies of a heart attack like a common criminal.

What an awesome series Death Note was! I’m biased but Trigun would be a great 26 episode series.

astherphoenixxx96

Autopsy reveals light died from heart attack. Near: crap, there's 1 more kira?

GoldArthur

You really need to watch Death Parade. It's not a long series, but it's highly suspected to take place in the Death Note universe. Also, Light even makes an unofficial appearance.

Vega

watch one punch man, short and really fun

Anonymous

They made light so stupid in the second section of Death Note. I'm stupid but if I had the resources N had , i'm pretty sure I would have still figured out Light was Kira.

Anonymous

well i guess the end was near

Anonymous

Make sure to watch the Directors cut ending too its pretty Epic and ties things up with Light and Ryuk

Phillip Ribbink

At last alone, his fire's dying. Burned another day. And now to pretend and make up an ending. Somewhere far away. He reached for a book all bound in leather. Something that he knows he's never read. And the first page says "Beware you've found the answer." The next one says "I wish that you were dead." Don't go on, put it back! You're reading from the Bible Black!!! What's this world I see? Who are you and who are me? Maybe I just stumbled in the dark? I must've been out cold. But the way the story's told. They found me lying naked in the rain. Let me go I've seen religion. But the light has left me blind. Take me back. I must have the Bible Black! Well here I go again. From the start and to the end. I wish that I could remember what I've done. Now here's another spell. It could take me straight to hell. And I feel I'm getting closer to my home! Let me go, I've found addiction. And it makes me feel alive! Take me back. I must have the Bible Black! He locks himself away and tastes the silence. Hungry for another bite of wrong. And just the words "Oh lord please take me with you!" Took him to a place we don't belong. Let him go! He can't come back. He's reading from the Bible Black! So if your fire's dying. And what's the use in trying? I may know another place that you can go. It's hiding in the pages. But you may not come back. You're reading from the Bible Black! Bible Black by Heaven and Hell, always thought it had some interesting parallels to Death Note.

Mihai Alexandru Untu

In the official databook its said that L's intelligence is rated 8/10 while Near's is rated 9/10. So yeah... My favorite character is the best.

Ruben

No. Light's a genius his fall comes from his attitude and ambitions. If he just wanted to kill people he'd never be caught but he wanted to be recognized as a god and killed with specific intent. He wasn't dumb but as the world started to adhere to his ambitions he became more cocky and thus took more risks. It also became harder for him having to deal with two other geniuses one of whom wasn't afraid of breaking moral codes himself to catch him. He got cocky and overwhelmed which is well in line with how his character has always been. You need to do some homework on character writing

Straight White Male

Light and Near are my favorites, but I like L too.

Nate D.

Ok, since nobody else is asking, and I know everybody wants this. Now that you've finished death note. I will pay ANYTHING to have you watch and react to the Netflix death note live adaptation. PLEASE PLEASE I MUST KNOW YOUR OPINION. THIS WILL BE SUCH GOOD CONTENT. JUST TELL ME HOW MUCH YOU WANT

Anonymous

Why tho the only thing worse than that tragedy is DB Evolution!

Anonymous

Trigun or Berserk '97 after Mob S2 please!

August B Denys

If Curtis wants a longer series to watch, which I think would match his sense of humor perfectly and would give him his bare-knuckle boxing sensibilities, then I would recommend the series Hajime No Ippo. It has an English Dub which I think he would really enjoy. It has also been said to be a direct inspiration to My Hero Academia (how could it not be, it has been based on a weekly manga that has just celebrated its 30th year and the creator says it's only half done).

Sean Nelson

my recommendations are Hajime No Ippo because it's good and perfect for curtis and trigun because it's good not enough people react to it and its perfect for me lol

Matsumoto Erkin

attack on titan !!!!! or Gintama !!!! or Saiki !

Anciient

I think it implies Misa is going to jump from the roof there at the end, now that Light is dead.

None ya

What's next DXD? Your still missing a season from them

Anonymous

i was just about to watch that after like 150 shows 😂

Anonymous

it was pretty bullshit Near finding out who DELETE was, and that one dude copying the WHOLE book in one night

Shades

In case you didn't notice Misa actually committed suicide hence why she was over the safety barrier of the building at the end all dressed up like that. It was not written in the manga and didn't actually show it in the anime but the Author when asked said he couldn't think of a situation to put her in but that after someone "like Matsuda let slip that light was dead that she fell into depression and committed suicide". Her date of death is listed as about a year after Lights. So by that you were sort of right about the police not disclosing to the public that Kira died or at the very least that Light was Kira. That is why I assumed they added them credit scenes in of her as the last time you see her in the manga is when Light calls her in the hotel after she is released. Kind of sad but at the end of the day she was pretty crazy due to her earlier life circumstances and killed a bunch of people herself.

Anonymous

That is true, it claims that Light and Near are on the same level in terms of intelligence. The only thing that Near lacked was initiative, which is why the main piece of the puzzle, finding out Mikami's identity was such an asspull.
