In Hunter x Hunter 60, End x And x Beginning, Gon and Killua face their most evil enemy yet: limited inventory slots. Ging Freeze turns out to be the kind of savage that will program a game without the option to skip the tutorial level.

All that we know about Ging and Greed Island so far is that he left Gon a memory card and ring for it and said nothing about it. I don't think there's been any other info mentioned connecting the two lol

macrowave

Oh, and now the message from Ging. I couldn't remember if it was this episode or the next

Justice Hastings

I have always wanted them to make a real Greed Island video game

macrowave

You might want to be ready to pause during this arc, because they only give you a second to read the card descriptions lol

Jason Serrano

You would make a great Hunter btw haha

I don’t know if i missed when Alex addressed this but what’s on the slate now that steins gate is finished? Is the ATLA live action on the radar (given the special place it has in all of our hearts)? Or will it be a surprise…

The undecided part is whether to do Steins Gate 0 or move on to another show. For ATLA, it's a must watch! I haven't spoken about this at all but my plan right now is to do 1 episode a week cause I want to take my time with it. That will happen in addition to the current schedule. I will make a post + poll about all of this either today (Korean time) or tomorrow

What I like about Papa Zoldyck’s rule of waiting and not fighting another stronger than you shows a more rational side than most bad guys in series. In the Yorkmew City arc, once Dad and Gramps join the other hired assassins, you can see their (or at least Gramps) confidence in his skill when chumming it up with the others in the room. They know they're good, but (and I'm simplifying it) it's not about the killing, it's about the business. They stated the money wasn't worth the trouble of the Troupe. But they were hired as the last resort for the auction to continue. Yet you see Gramps ready to die while taking Chrollo down. Suppose you have to fight, then fine. But there's no point in getting killed if you know an opponent is stronger. That, at least, is refreshing when it comes to usual villains who are too confident and continue forward because of how awesome their skills are.

There's something really cool and intimidating about it for me. That kind of patient perfectionism is something I respect and fear largely because it's on the other end of the spectrum from where I usually operate.

One thing that I would say is different abt this series compared to other shonen is that our main characters just leave to do their own thing whereas in other shonen or even most series u have a core group which stick together and have adventures together. I feel this is pretty true to real life since everyone is living their own separate lives but still once in awhile are able to take the time to meet up somewhere just like in the recent Yorknew Arc.

Now that Steins Gate is over, is there any chance we just double up on HxH and finish the series?

agoodwintv

Honestly tempted to do that! But doesn't seem optimal for a number of reasons (one being I like having HxH to look forward to)

Speaking of treating life like a video game, have you ever heard of The Buried Life? I think they really embody that exact idea. Back in 2010 a bunch of college guys created a project, which then got picked up by MTV for a reality tv series. The story of how they got picked up is interesting in and of itself, but here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRexWE9yBVA It's available to stream on Amazon. MTV wanted to fake some of their accomplishments (as it usually goes in the reality tv world), but they said that this only works if they attempt it for real. Their first item on the list was to sneak into the playboy mansion during one of their famous yearly parties. Their MTV contract was riding on whether or not they'll be able to succeed with this task. Apparently all but one of the execs bet on the fact that they'd fail. That's the first episode. The show really gives one an insight into the fact that we're all so used to living our lives according to some accepted script or narrative. But if you just stop and ask yourself "why are these the arbitrary limitations to living, aren't there more paths I can explore?", then suddenly your mind begins to think in a lot of new creative ways. If you don't wanna watch the show, they have ted talks where they talk about their journey and lessons they learned along the way. I recommend it and think it'll resonate with you. Aww I always loved that line from Melody about Leorio being well suited to a career as a doctor! That's Leorio's dream, after all, and he hasn't given it up. How great must that feel - he hasn't told Melody anything about wanting to be a doctor, and hasn't even shown her any of his medical skills, so it means so much more to have her say "doctor" out of every other possible job she could have picked. It reminds me of a couple times in my life when I've been working towards a specific goal or quality that I feel very strongly about but am unsure whether I can achieve chances, then had some stranger who doesn't know about it say something like "Have you ever looked into (that goal)? I think you'd really do well / You strike me as someone who (has that quality)" . Whenever that's happened to me it makes me feel so validated and strengthens my resolvel, because it indicates that I made the right choice in pursuing it. There's a sense of "thank god all that hard work wasn't a total waste". It also makes me feel that I'm farther than I thought towards that goal, because if a complete stranger can sense it then I must be projecting those qualities without even thinking about it.

The character arc we've all been waiting for. Gon becomes a gamer.
